Today, I feel sad. We truly lost somebody who exemplified doing 'good' along with doing 'business'.

I'd recently read the book ‘The Story of Tata’ and had learnt the good they have done, which is always difficult when you're a capitalist. But Tata truly is built different, and Ratan Tata took the torch so far ahead.

I started out career at TCS like many here, so that’s the most obvious way I was benefitted from what they have made. It was a start, and a start is what one often needs.

But beyond it: there are many things

1. He took Tata from $6Bn in revenue to $100Bn in revenue under his reign

2. ⁠Acquired brands like Tetley, JLR which are honestly a big deal for an Indian company 

3. ⁠Nano, which failed, was one of his noble pet projects. It showed his thought process.

4. ⁠Support to startups: literally every founder is putting up stories of their interactions with him, how ever present was he

All while donating 60% of profits to social causes via Tata Trusts (that’s a function of his ancestors and how they set the company)

We’ve lost a legend. We’ve lost an example in positive business building.

I hope we remember and learn from Ratan Tata for long. ♥️

Absolutely echo what you have written 
 It was his calling to be an industrialist and billionaire (because of his family). But so many of his choices reflected a noble intent. 
  
 And that’s all it takes. Ambani Adani etc will never see the love we’re seeing outpouring for Tata. 
  
 And I hope that becomes an example for more business leaders.

My father worked as a peon when I was a kid. I barely had any friends and could not afford any toys. He used to work really long hours everyday. He was sleeping when I went to school and I was sleeping when he got back from work. So we never really talked. I was not good at studies during school, later I got to know that I had severe ADHD. My teachers used to say that I am good for nothing and very talkative all my life which gave me a lot of anxiety.

I got into a CSE at a Tier 2 college. This was with the help of my cousin sister who used to tutor me after school and taught me how to think from fundamentals. 

In college my seniors used to do a lot of ragging and make us not have food in the hostel mess. I lost a lot of weight and ended up with jaundice. This was the reason why I had a very bad CGPA in first year, <6. Slowly over the years I was able to bring it over 7.

I got into a service based company after college with a CTC of 3.75 LPA. I did not have any offers and I did not have anyone for guidance in my life. That is when I started to pick up some freelancing gigs and talked to people from other countries and cultures which educated me about top tech companies. So I started preparing for that.

I was rejected a total of 4 times by Amazon which completely broke me from the inside. Meanwhile my father got stomach cancer and he passed away. To this day my deepest regret is that my father did not see me finally achieving success in my life and till his last moments I am sure he thought of me as a failure son.

As I moved through my career I made a goal of reaching Google. I prepared very hard for an entire year with a lot of studying and preparation. Finally I got into Google. My family became very happy for me as I was the first person in my entire extended family to get such a package. After a lifetime of struggle I was finally content with where I am.

My only wish is that my father was here and his struggle for providing me with the best was not wasted.

Glad to hear this man. My father also passed away because of stomach cancer. Cancer sucks but he's smiling down on you from heaven and your family is lucky to have a person like you with them!

I've been seeing a lot of people promoting their services on Topmate or similar platform, and charging some random amount for the same. 

So, I just wanted to share my small experience - nothing fancy though. 

Occasionally people looking for better tech jobs (early career) reach out to me, blocks my calendar and we have conversation for 30-60 minutes, absolutely at zero cost.

Often times, they come back after a few months to share about their updates or to share the happy news.

I'm not on Topmate, nor have I shared this publicly with anyone. People occasionally reach out, 1-2 per month (now), purely by word of mouth 💁🏻‍♂️

I haven't gyaan-ed on LinkedIn nor am I interested in the same. I don't understand why people shares a ton of posts regarding the same. I don't know whether they're doing it just for the name/fame.

I often review resume of those who reach out to me, and used to review almost 20+ resumes every month. I still do it occasionally. 

This is again not via Topmate or any other platform, they block time on my calendar and then we do it, absolutely for free. Over call, we would be spending 60-90 minutes or more for the resume.

I go through each and every word on their resume, rephrases it and improve it. I help them in presenting a compelling story about themselves.

Again, this is also for free. And almost all of them has received a lot of interviews from most of the Big tech companies. 
(Main point is not because I helped them, they were able to showcase themselves in the best way). 

I don't have a lot of experience. But over the last 3 years, I've been extensively researching on these things, and has been supporting a lot of folks. 

It is very tiring, and sometimes I really don't want to continue doing it as well, especially since I don't charge a dime. 

But yes, when we help someone, happiness automatically comes to us. I just wanted to share this with you all.

I am a homosexual, and I've found the dating culture here to be much better than in other parts of the country. However, I generally keep that aspect of my life private at work.

When I started dating, I was well aware of where high-risk behaviour takes you to. I made it a point to get tested every six months.

One of my tests took an extra two days for a re-run of the sample, and I received a call to meet the doctor in person. I knew that’s the standard protocol for an HIV positive result.

While I wasn't surprised, I was deeply saddened by the results. Coming from a middle-class family, I had worked hard to secure a good job, earn money, and support my family. Yet, this virus seemed to be an inevitable part of my journey ever since my struggles began as a teenager.

I've always known that I needed to be successful and strong to succeed in all aspects of life. But this is not a battle that can be won. It is a slow surrender to death. Life is an acceptance of your eventual death for everyone but mine is fated to be in my 50s. 

Some close friends, family members, and any partners I meet are aware of my condition, but I prefer not to deal with the hassles and perceptions at work. Legally, NACO registration is optional, have chosen not to.

With the hookup culture increasing in the city for everyone, I hope this serves as a PSA to be safe.

I hate working 9 to 5. I simply hate it. I loathe it. I worked so hard all my effing life to get here and I hate it. I learnt DP and what not. It’s been 1.5 years since I started working full time as a software engineer and it just keeps getting worse. 
I make upwards of 15 lpa.
It’s not that I have a bad work environment, it’s great. It’s just that I feel absolutely rotten working a 9 to 5 as a software engineer.

Ideally, I would like to own a small business of my own. Despite watching hours of content on how to do that, I haven’t been able to come up with anything that seems like it’s gonna work, you know…

Thinking of doing an MBA but that’s BS too, right?

It feels like very soon I’m just gonna quit and be broke. 🤷🏼‍♀️
It feels like my life is over at 23. Kill me now.

My question to you is first, am I alone?,  second, can I help you in your business in any possible way?, third, should I do an MBA?

What do I do with my life?

An investigation has started into a robot 'suicide.' The robot was seen idle at the bottom of some stairs, and later, witnesses saw it spinning on top of a building before falling off.

The robot worked in a government office from 9 AM to 6 PM without breaks. The company that designed it is analyzing its parts to understand what happened.
