- Singapore Airlines received Indian govt approval for FDI in Air India merger
- Merger will create one of world's largest airline groups, expected completion by end of 2024
- SIA to acquire 25.1% stake in Air India as part of the deal
- Merger still subject to compliance with applicable Indian laws
- Parties discussing extension of long stop date, originally set for October 31, 2024

- Vistara issued steps for passengers travelling on or after November 12, when all its flights will operate under Air India.
- Booked Vistara tickets will need to be re-issued by Air India, with check-ins at Air India's counters.
- Lounge access and special services purchased through Vistara may not be valid post November 12.
- Excess baggage allowances will be transferred to the new Air India flight, subject to approval.
- Air India will maintain the 'Vistara experience' on newly acquired planes until its cabin retrofit program is completed in 2025.

- Around 600 non-flying staff from Air India and Vistara are likely to be impacted by the merger.
- Efforts will be made to provide job opportunities within Air India group and Tata companies for the affected employees.
- The exact number of impacted staff will be known after the merger's completion, expected in late September or early October.
- The fitment process, evaluating roles and responsibilities, has been ongoing for months and is being conducted fairly.
- There will be no job impact for cabin crew and pilots, and the merger aims for growth, not cost-cutting.

Do we really need this merger?? 🥺 As a Vistara fan not really happy.

I understand from the company's POV since, post merger it will be unified operation under one brand, managing will be better and their are other factors attached to it as well.

I hope the service is up to the mark post merger, personally my experience with Air India not so great so far except few.

Tata Sons Urges Air India to Retain Vistara's Superior Service Amid Merger

- **Tier 1** (Should Book These): 
Vistara (for comfort, feels, food)
Indigo (for being cost effective, on time, no frills) 

- **Tier 2** (Doable): 
Air India (some planes are good now, but still inconsistent)
Spicejet (if you are in luck, it's not too bad anymore) 

- **Tier 3** (I Don't Value My Life)
Air India Express (fka Air Asia - avoid for life)
Akasa (it's a great flight, as long as you assume your takeoff is at T+2 hours by default) 

Feel free to opine but this is how it is. I fly every month and have done so for years now. 
Hope this helps before you book for Diwali.

Always wondered how it happens
Have been using credit cards for some time, never found as much in rewards. What can a novice change in his cards?

Folks who say they get free flight tickets from credit cards, how do you do it?

There are certain cards which help you get free tickets(not entirely free though) 
  
 Most famous ones are Vistara cobranded cards. 
 Eg Sbi Vistara Prime Card 
  
 You get the card at annual fees of Rs3500 
 With this you get 1 Vistara Premium Economy Ticket which would easily cost 8-10K INR if you were to book by paying 
  
 Additionally you get more Premium Economy tickets each time you hit a spend milestone. 
  
 1.5lakh spends in a year - 1 more ticket 
 3lakh - another ticket 
 4.5 Lakh- another ticket 
 8 Lakh - another ticket 
  
 In addition you get 1 upgrade voucher using which you can upgrade your ticket from category X to category Y. This is via the Vistara Silver Tier Membership which is complimentary with the card. It also gives 5kg addition baggage allowance 
  
 There are more such cards in market like idfc vistara, axis vistara (business class variant as well)

Vistara's ultimatum to pilots: Accept new salary structure
Comes in view if their merger with Air India

Less players, authoritarian rule

First time seeing this coordination of employees in any big company in India. Corporate slaves are realizing that they need to come together for their rights.
