Sabbatical from work

I am hoping for a sabbatical from my consulting job for my mental health for 1.5 months. Folks who have experience with this- do sabbaticals generally ever affect promotions or performance based incentives? How should i proceed in such a situation?

It will depend if you are taking this sabbatical during the peak time or off season.
Please do have a clear conversation with your manager on your performance appraisal before initiating the sabbatical discussion so that they don't go back their word after you tell them about sabbatical
Mental health above everything , if the Company's culture is good , they won't mind.
If it's a shit Company/boss, you got the message that it's not somewhere you can plan for the long term.

Oh I think I mis-read it, I thought a break between jobs. I guess you mean a sabbatical while in the same job. It depends a lot on the team and culture from the top, very subjective

Honestly what anyone thinks does not matter. End of the day, in a professional career of 20-30 years, a few months here and there do not matter in the larger scheme .

If you feel you need this , you should go ahead and take a break. It is going to rejuvenate you like anything. All the best !

Don't... This sabbatical will cost you the mental peace that you want in the first place.
Even if you are a T1 grad, without a job you have no negotiation power. If you are anything other than T1, companies will ask you to work for food.

Attending job interviews in India is like buying plastic bucket from a platform hawker. Unless the guy thinks you will walk away he won't make the sale.
If he thinks you are desperate to buy, he will try to rip you off.

It is being accepted a bit more than earlier, but still majority will try to read between lines and see it in negative light. Maybe you can showcase it as a project or research study rather than a break. Having said all this, 1.5 months is a short time frame so should not be much of a problem. Just curious, how do you know it will be exactly 1.5 months?
