Sabbatical Leave.

Does an extended Sabbatical leave of 3months, show up in your leaving certificate or hurt your chances for future job roles?

Planning to take an unpaid sabbatical due to health reasons, employer has agreed for the same, just need to understand this aspect.

Does it also count as work experience?

Just a personal thought.
It does not show up on CV or experience letter usually. So unless the company goes out of their way to communicate with your next company. Or it comes out in ref check.

I have seen people taking sabbatical but then they were staying in company for long time. So a sabbatical taken 3 years ago is less relevant than sabbatical taken 3 months back when searching for next job.

Final thought, if the next company takes negative view for taking sabbatical for geniune reason, do you really want to join such company?

Pls prioritise health. After a couple of months, while still being on sabbatical, you may also start looking for other opportunities. Just in case your current company doesn’t have a vacancy for you.

Words like sabbatical are not in the recruiters vocabulary in our country.

Prioritize health first. It won’t hinder much on your cv as people usually focus on years in the company otherwise

It doesnt show up in the leaving certificate and it should never hurt your chances for a future job role. In case any company rejects you on this basis, consider it as a bullet dodged. As a hiring manager/recruiter, I wouldnt care if a candidate has taken a sabbatical for health, family or to climb mountains.
If you decide to continue in the same company, it does. Else, it doesnt. Also depends on the company what they would want to consider as your last working day.
