Salary expectation in Dev to Design transition
Hello I have been working as a developer for almost 3 years now. I have been pursuing design at side and want to transition to design as career (UX/product design roles). Need help on navigating roles and salaries from anyone who has transitioned/seen someone transition and has knowledge on this. 1. Apply for entry level roles or senior roles? 2. How to navigate salary discussions ( if recruiter says since this is your first design job we can only pay entry level salary X which is less than my current salary as a dev)?
Could you please elaborate more via DM if you can on how you transition to it , what resources you are learning from and about it all ..how to start and etc etc . I want to transition too.
1. Started with Google UX course and realised it's not for me (pace and content)
2. Learning more via hands-on (worked for me)
3. I follow Chethan Kvs, Amit Das, Nash and many other designers
Start with these and you will find your own way of leaning and resources.

1. I was into tech for the love of building digital products
2. User interfaces, how user interacts with them, navigating users journeys are what interests me more than how apps actually function.
3. I was completely wrong when I thought front end engineers create user interfaces directly from code (lack of awareness)
4. Hence I want to change and want to craft experiences for users
Did you just want to know the WHY behind transition? Or can help me with questions asked above in the post?

hi, I am in exactly similar boat except 0 yoe and will be starting at Ford this year. want to connect?
As Dev you will always earn more than Design. Why do you want to switch? Is dev not your cup of tea? Asking for clarity, not being judgemental.
I'm not lying when I say I love to code and build products. But I love designing experiences more and it is what excites me and I believe I'm good at.
