Startup employee put on PIP but no documentation

Hello viner, A co worker of mine has been put on PIP by the company HR based on her managers feedback. Even though she got an average rating ,she did not get along well with the Manager and he got the HR to put her into PIP. HR here mostly follow what department leads tell them. But there are some discrepancies : 1) HR has not formally sent her a email informing of the PIP procedure. This is all verbal 2) Her manager also hasn't given her any concrete milestones. He just said that she will be judged based on the feedback from fellow co workers. 3) Of late, the HR has been forcing her to resign even though the final date of pip period has not been reached. Is this the normal PIP procedure followed in your companies too? Or is there something suspicious here?

Sadly writings on the wall. She's done for. Ask her to start aggressively looking out. There's nothing good about this, but lavda anything will happen. It's a startup (read andho ki sena).

If it's a startup, most likely they are out of funding and need to let go of employee. With PIP, they will not have to pay severance and also don't put the blame on themselves that it wasn't a mistake on their end to hire her. PIP anyways is paid interview preparation

But they way they are conducting pip, is it even proper? She feels that they can start a real PIP with documentation against her since she got a meets expectations rating in March and this informal pip is just a trick to force her to resign. The HR is also not documentation anything regarding weekly goals etc.

Also there are no weekly performance reviews etc. Even after talking to her manager, he did not give her any concrete set of goals based on which she will be judged. Just "feedback" from coworkers which HR can easily lie about.

guide your friend to get out with proper papers. take the screen shot of meets expectations of it is documented at all somewhere. get your payslips other supporting data etc. start preparing and looking out. not her fault at all, if she got meets expectations. maybe she can delay till she finds something. Remember HR is not an independent police department, it will do what leadership tells them to do - in this case it is unethical what they are doing. This is happening a lot these days. Lot of good people being kicked to save someome else's job.

Hey guys, I wanted to know that if you are put on PIP, which basically means you are about to be fired and you resign from your position before PIP ends, does it show up during background verification that this guy was put on PIP in oyr company. Also how strict is this background verification, does the third party verification also enquire about your performance in the previous company?

So Flipkart will be doing performance based layoffs. I have been placed on PIP. How should I proceed considering I don't have any other offers and not much experience either. 1. Resign immediately. 2. Do the PIP completely and then see if I pass or not? I am not in a good financial position currently.

I have been put on PIP

As part of the PIP I have been given tasks to do alongside my regular project and they said that they evaluate me based on that. I'm supposed to do these PIP related tasks outside work hours and weekends. My TL expects me to give updates on this every single day. Expecting significant updates, knowing clearly I'm supposed to do it outside work hours. He's the one who put me on PIP by creating a lot of noise, even included the India Head of the company, saying that I'm the person because of whom the project timelines got delayed. Now he's asking me to prioritise the PIP task over the project. He's upset that he's not getting regular updates from me on the PIP task. This situation is super confusing. Idk what to do. How to manage my time with regular project + PIP task + job search + personal responsibilities + household chores?

My Manager told me that I am not performing well and suddenly put me in PIP plan . He has already told me in September that my performance was low, and I have worked hard after that to show him. Even in 1:1s after September he has told me that I am improving. But I did not expect him to give me the pivot document suddenly. He has given a project which I was already working on and now I need to deliver it by Nov end. The L4 (front end/software engineer) tasks are not easy to achieve, but I am scared about the fact that recession is coming and this might be an Amazon way of kicking people out and even if I delivered everything he asked for, he can still decide to kick me out. So , can anyone help me with referrals and tell me what should I do at this situation? What is the best way to survive PIP as well as prepare for interview? I am in L4 and have worked for amazon for 14 months till now.
