Bank of America employee dies from working 120 hrs/week
Grapeviners, this is what your corporate overlords like "Mr 70HoursperWeek" and all want from you, to DIE. 70 hours per week? This is a tight slap to Mr. NM and his supporters. Consider the case of the McKinsey consultant who lost his life( https://www.consultancy.in/news/4168/young-mckinsey-consultant-commits-suicide-due-to-work-pressure ). Wake up Grapevine! Aftermath: BofA Juniors will begin strike today.
Sick! People like NM are destroyers of work life balance. They earn so much but they want their employees to earn peanuts and work like maniacs.
Management layer creates unnecessary pressure on junior employees so that they can earn huge bonuses. Middle management are all ass lickers who just obey whatever is being told to them and that is how culture is compromised. Everyone uses juniors as their own pet servant simply pass on the entire work to them, give them unrealistic deadlines and they show to upper management how much work we are getting done. Shame !

@Bumrah Shame on them.
Very well said. Got a chance to become a part of Middle management but refused because of the reason you mentioned.
Why the f was he working 120hrs? That's 17hrs everyday if you work even on the weekends. I ain't working that many hours unless we are in a company crisis mode with a war room setup and my own fucking money on the line.

@Elon_Musk exactly meri jaan
Investment Banking is insane . If you’re working on a critical deal for a client through a bank / management consulting firm , your entire desk is often revised 50 times , not to mention constant tweaking to the data analysis and models ( all in time to present the perfect pitch for the deal) within a very short time frame . People easily end up with 100+ hour weeks as an associate as they are on a probation period for their first year and not all will make the cut in the big firm.
Watch the show Industry on HBO if you can , it deals with the same theme.

Was it worth it ..in the end it doesn't even matter the bank will still work and replace you like nothing

@WoozyTemple4 they also made everyone stop publishing about this.
That's sad let me get back to slogging hours else I will be kept on PIP.

You should look for a new job if you're in PIP. PIP is just a way to fire people so that you don't sue the company for firing you under unreasonable grounds. They conduct PIP and say there's no improvement and fire people. Even I was put on PIP and so were my colleagues. We were getting harassed mentally, eventually we had to give voluntary resignation.
I waa joking dude, I have the skill to smell out if I'm being framed for PIP and I just leave the shizz kebab organization
Wait this happened in Infosys? I mean was that person working for BofA client project of Infy

@salt seriously
It all ultimately boils down to this tho...
I wonder why he(the now-dead) was keen on working this hard.... was he passionate, or desperate?
if neither of the two above, then perhaps retarded to chug all that energy drink.
Instead of blaming the entire corporation, I feel it's the culture that should be brought into light....
1. For any human, health should be a priority. Regular exercise, good food, and sufficient rest. He died of acute coronary thrombosis, i.e. a plaque made of fatty substances, cholesterol, calcium, fibrin etc was clogged in his artery. Should've exercised more!
2. Why was he delegated so much work? did he take up himself, or did the middle managers decide to piggy back? if former then (skill issue).
Whatever is the case, rest in peace.
And to those who are alive, y'all rest in peace too(every night).
imo it's worse than slavery, at the very least slave owner took minimal care so slave doesn't die and keeps doing the work maximizing their profit.
Today's corporate company wants workers to complete their work , they don't care about the effort or time
This problem has created an norm in our company every damm fking employee works late till 10,12 or even pull late nighters and are readily in next days standups
Idk why they are requesting max 100 hours cap for a week in their protest. I would’ve put 75 or lower. https://x.com/wallst_gossip/status/1787294903732482118
Govt gotta do something. They shamelessly fleece IT workers in the name of tax while slowly killing them with toxic water, air, traffic issues.
Absolutely no support for health issues and they allow the companies to exploit them to the core.
I don't know if I can blame any company for this, 120 hrs is abnormal in my experience, and I used to work at PwC. Maybe there was some other issue that made him act that way?

Never join an investment bank. Long hours and useless work which doesn't have any meaning outside the bank.
