Swindled :(

Had a bank account of Kotak where it was inoperative from 1.5 years and NMC Charges went to 7900 INR. When I went to close the account they started insisting me to pay the charges. How do we deal this folks, coz at the time of taking account they said it is zero balance and then after salary stopped crediting they converted into a savings account with mostly generic alerts !!!! Looteri banks. 😏😒

I have avoided SBI always in the past. Even few days back, someone here on GV bashed SBI when he had to wait 3hr for account opening. But the prospect of being defrauded and shortchanged for loans, with random charges added and preclosure being a pain, I am dreading to interact with Private banks and NBFC's. I haven't had the experience of servicing home loans/personal loans with HDFCs or other banks yet. But I was planning on getting a personal loan this month and HDFC is offering very competitive rate of 11%. Do you guys have any reviews on their service whenever you have needed something adhoc?

My mother called me yesterday and tells me she got scammed for about 10 lakhs and needs money by Monday. She has 4 lakhs and I will have to cover the rest. Turns out she let a friend take a loan in her name and this friend gave fake jewellery as collateral. The friend took loans under her husband’s name and my mom’s name, she divorced the dude and escaped. The bank called my mom and has asked her to pay, now they’re filing a case against my mom for fraud. I’ve spent my weekend talking to advocates and friends, and looks like the only way to get out of it unscathed is to cut a deal with the bank saying we’ll pay the money back and they don’t press charges in return. Contesting the bank is going to take time, money and the risk of my mom losing her job. As an older daughter who grew up in a broken family, I’ve spent my childhood and adulthood protecting my mother and sibling. I finally landed a well paying job 2 years ago and now the responsibility extended to providing for my younger sister and my mother financially which I’m more than happy to do. I’ve worked hard the past few months to save what I have right now beyond what I give my family, use to sustain myself and finally felt happy about the position I’m in. Now I’m heartbroken. I’m going to be emptying almost 70% of what I have so far for this for paying the bank and the lawyer. Especially for something that’s not even my mistake and something that could have been easily avoided. I’m not in a place to direct my anger at her, I know it’s a hard time for her as well. 6 to 7 lakhs might sound like a small amount to some but I don’t have the privilege to throw money like that. I don’t have fuck you money. I don’t take money from friends. I’m 25 and literally just started my life 2 years ago after working for peanuts. What’s even the point of working hard, leading an honest life if this is how it works? It’s just truly unfair and I don’t know how to deal with it.

Few weeks watched a reel from a famous influencer about this app where he shared the benefits one can gain from it and i did download the app and tried to open it and yet the app didn’t open even after my multiple tries so I uninstalled the app. Today, i did try to install it once again as i had to do my mobile phone recharge. I added the money to the wallet (3k) and then went on to do the recharge. My recharge wasn’t successful and yet the money got deducted from the wallet. I have lost my 3k. I did complain about it and still there is no response from their end. I even tried to call the helpline number and yet no response. Can anyone help me what to do now in such cases? Can i get my hard earned money back? Please share your knowledge and help me with it. I have lately realised that many people have fallen for this scam and have lost their money. I don’t know how come PlayStore still allow such apps to run such scams.

They convinced him he was shortlisted for a senior position but asked for a fee of Rs 1,600 to register. The scammers kept asking for more money over five months, including Rs 28,000 for a uniform, Rs 80,000 for a check-up, and Rs 2.4 lakh as a salary advance. . However, after paying around Rs 24 lakh in around 40 transactions, the man realized that he had been cheated -- How and why people fall for these? Also how they make over 40 transactions? Also a lot more people have fallen for scams than I initially thought. It's only when you tell them a story about other scams they tell their story.

I came to Bangalore 2 weeks ago. this is my first time visit to Bangalore. One fine day I was casually walking to my PG after having a tea at chai house. in the middle of a road a person with his newborn baby and wife approach me with folding hands. He asked me if I speak hindi. I nodded, then he said Iam from Maharashtra and he came here for job, but his master has kicked him out and not given him salary. He has no money for food and to travel back. He asked me to give him 300. I sensed it might be scam but being an emotional guy I thought 300 is not a big deal. I said I don't have cash but I can pay via phonepe. he showed me his qr on mobile. A thought ran in my mind does he has no one who he can call and ask for online money if he has working smart phone. when I started typing the amount 300 he said sir 300 for one person, pls pay for my wife too. I said I only have this much money only. I paid and walked off quickly. I think I'm scammed but it could be a genuine case too. tell me guys have you faced/heard this before. this might probably aware someone in future.

Hi community, Recently I have been mugged by the hero vired of my hard earned INR 12k. I enrolled in one of their courses some time back paying a registration fee of 12k. As I was not super interested at the beginning, sales guys started pursuing me very hard by giving discounts/scholarships (for already overpriced courses). When I was still not getting convinced, they offered the program director and alumni connect to help me make the decision but only if I pay the registration fee which they made refundable (which was on paper non-refundable) This is an INSEAD course and the conversation was done on a recorded line so I didn't take it as a red flag, only to find out later that they have blatantly refused to refund the money. They even refused that the fee was refundable and said that there was no phone call even after I showed the proofs of the call. I had a month long discussion with them where they conducted a completely bullshit audit and their senior management (including CEO) also didn't respond on escalation. Recently, I was informed by the INSEAD panel that they have changed the management in Hero Vired and asked me to join now as I won't get a bad experience again. While I refused to join them, I thought I'll let the community know of the deep rooted culture of disservice at Hero Vired and warn you against joining their cohorts. Don't get into their FOMO sales pitches and sweet promises, they won't comply with you as soon as you pay them. I am not the first one with such experience. Check their google reviews.
