Switch advice: SPM w/ 6+ YOE --> Management Consultant
Biggest query: Does this career move make sense? Or should the aim be towards a Manager position after spending 6+ years in Product Management?
My two cents:
1. In companies like Flipkart/Swiggy/MakeMyTrip etc, after Director/VP level in product management, since there's no logical next level, I've seen people transition to business roles.
2. In companies like Google/Salesforce (companies selling software), product roles carry big weight and people usually stick to the PM ladder.
Management consulting is a very different career trajectory and usually people comeback and join leadership positions in their practice domain.

People usually do consulting-> product but if you want to go it's also a good career option but only gor for mbb or some tier 2 consulting companies
Sure, absolutely! And does the Management Consultant designation make sense? Or should it be Manager?

Management in the sense is same pm ladder path right ? look you are a spm today but if you start at a consulting firm today you will have to start as a consultant, I don't think any good consulting firms will directly make you principal although I am not sure about that
I am bit curious, why you wanna do that? I mean, any other reason than personal interest.
Hello! TBH it's more about focusing on strategizing than execution plus working on a myriad of different projects <> clients. On a superficial level, working in a big stable org. and trying out something new.
Honestly, no idea how flawed my thinking is at the moment 🙈
Plus since I can come back to PM after a stint at consulting, it'd be a good change. Welcome change or not, that remains to be seen
