Any interview hack or cheat method you follow during an online interview?

All of you here, if you are interviewing somebody, please have the courtesy to 1) Switch on the camera 2) Take the first 2-3 mins to introduce yourself and set up a calm environment. People would already be nervous and especially given people are unemployed, we are pressurized to crack it. Never please have the "I'm the interviewer" tone. It scares us and we forget/unable to think well. This helps a lot. Thanks @grapevine Admin, please share this on LinkedIn also.

It happened about 4yrs ago when I was looking for a job change for the first time. I hadn't practiced DSA in a long time and I was giving interviews without enough preparation. So during a virtual interview the interviewer gave me a DSA question which I had a look at a couple of days ago but still didn't know how to solve properly. I thought it would be easier if I can just search through my browser history to find that solution I saw. I might have searched my history for about 15-20 secs and suddenly realised that I was fking sharing my screen on call 🤦 {Trust me! I'm smart, this was a brain fart moment} I immediately closed the history tab and pretended like this never happened, and tried to solve the question on my own. The fact that both of us didn't say anything makes it even more embarrassing for me. There was an eerie silence which makes me think he saw what I was trying to do. During the whole call I was super embarrassed, but I gave my best and was able to solve half of the cases, but didn't get selected for the next round, obviously. till today I wonder whether he saw that I was trying to cheat or not ? and what he thinks of me? I'm aware/realise that this is what happens when you try to cheat, so either don't cheat or be smart about it 🙂 do you have anything similar to share?

Appeared for anonline video interview with Apple recently. The 2 interviewers didn't even bother to turn on their cameras throughout the whole discussion. Had much respect for the firm but didn't expectrd this. Why do some people do this ? Do they think they are working in a company where many aspire to be and that gives them the freedom to behave like this ?

So there was one company I was being interviewed at for position of product role. They told me to make a mobile app, not an actual one just on paper but it was a lengthy assignment and took me 5 days to complete it. (Day and night with minimal sleep) Now in the deep assignment discussion round the interviewer asked me why I built an app. In my head the answer was you guys only told me to build it😂😂 but I managed to fake something for sophisticated. Mention below if you have some funny interview stories.

So basically I don't hesitate in challenging the interviewer if I feel like they don't know how to interview a senior candidate so during many interviews, this is how I have caught them off guard: 1. The interviewer was asking me technical questions and expecting to explain properly throughout. So at the end i asked him about the tech stack they use, he said Azure. I asked him why they use Azure and not AWS, to which he said "it's cheaper", i didn't let it go, i asked him for a proper technical explanation, his red face was worth seeing. 2. The interview asked me a hard DSA question, and I wasn't able to solve it properly, he didn't even give me enough hints, just expected me to solve it. So halfway I asked him, would you like to solve a DSA if I ask you right now, he said no because it's not his interview. To which I asked, are you afraid that you won't be able to solve? If you are going to reject me for not solving this question, would you resign if you aren't able to solve the question. He ended the call. 3. One interviewer was asking me absurd technical detailed questions. I asked him why are you asking such questions, he said he needs to know my thought process because he will work with me. I started asking him similar questions, he said he won't answer because it's not his interview. I said I also need to know your thought process because we'll work together, so you should also answer these questions, he had no reply. 4. The interviewer asked me about a challenging project that I had done recently. I don't like this question at all. So I said there wasn't any challenging project because I'm good at what I do so it's always easy for me. He moved on to the next question. 5. HR asked me why I resigned without an offer? I asked if it's mandatory? No reply.

Hi Grapeviners, I have ten years of work ex in performance marketing and CRM. I started job search actively from Feb 15 this year and landed first interview today. How bad is the market out there. I usually get hired with in 30 job applications, also I apply to the role only if 70% and above role match with my previous experience also use referrals when available.
