So I make close to 80k per month. Single and no family responsibilities.  2 YOE. I am awake of the economy. Wondering if I should do masters in USA.But people who have done that right now seems to be struggling after going there. Few of my friends are doing alright. But is it dumb to do masters now or it’s better to switch.

I'm working as a software Engineer at a startup with almost 2 YOE. Looking at most of my friends going to usa for masters right after college i felt like I'm making a mistake by not doing the same after listening software engineers earning 100K us dollars there. I thought I'll give myself two years get some work experience and then think about it but honestly I'm still confused if i should switch(which is not proving to be so simple in the current job market) or should I go for masters (again confused here in choosing between usa or Germany or Australia). Will taking almost 40 Lakhs of loan money and doing it be worth it ? Seriously damn confused about what next step to take. When I spoke with the CTO here, he advised it's not worth and you can be earning almost similar money here soon. I'd say FOMO is also a big thing here. As i tell myself let's take the risk, 2 years of study will be done soon and then work for 3-4 years , make big money , repay the loan and get back to India. I'd be having the international exposure, experiencing some above average lifestyle than India , so confused man 

Any grapeviners who might have seen people around them taking this step please suggest me what to do, any advice is greatly appreciated 🙏

Really confused about masters vs switch

I'm a 24yo M, into frontend engineering making over 18LPA. I'm also working part time for a startup. 

I'm considering masters in the UK, US or Canada on the same order of priority.

my main reasons to even consider masters are the following
- meet people from different backgrounds
- get a better paying job with a work visa in a foreign country
- FOMO as a lot of people i know from college are now abroad studying/working

cons i see in this approach
- heavy on the finances
- economy isn't doing very well worldwide 
- job market is pretty bad rn
- i have everything here in India (family, friends, a well paying job)


my ideal case would be to get a visa sponsored job opportunity, but considering the economy and job market it seems impossible. 

would love to know opinions of some experienced folks or anyone who'd have some guidance for me. thanks.

I have 2 years of Backend experience and I feel like masters won’t add much to my knowledge or experience and want an honest reply to all the persons who did masters in US. 
I come from a Tier 1 college but have a decent CGPA and no research experience whatsoever so won’t get hotshot colleges but the ones which I would get would it add anything to my skillset and I don’t wanna do it just for the sake of getting masters and working in the US.

Now I am having a fear of missing out, I applied for a few universities and I have got an admit in MS in CS. 

Is it worth it to migrate to another country and start again at this point of my career? What is your opinion on work in USA compared to India?

Hi all, we all know how messed up the market is right now. I currently have a work experience of 1.6 years,and I am thinking if I should go for a masters in CS abroad or not. Considering the market scenario abroad I am a bit afraid to take the big leap, but right now I can see the scenario is not much better in India as well, facing difficulty in switching also. I would like to concentrate on one line - masters or job switch. Please guide me.

I am 22yo and just graduated from a tier 3 college with Btech degree. Currently placed in a startup as a Frontend Engineer CTC 7LPA remote. I am confused should I prepare for masters and do that or should I work hard in FE and switch after 1-2 year for better pay.

I'm a final year student from a tier 2 college. I was talking to one of my friends, and he proposed the idea of pursuing a master's degree. I didn't have any plans of doing so before, but now I am considering it. I've been doing some research, and I am quite confused about whether it would be a good choice or not. There are numerous people on YouTube discussing the pros and cons of pursuing a Master of Science abroad. Some of the points include recession, permanent residency, fees, expenses, working hours, lifestyle, and the list continues. While these aspects may seem common, they appear more complicated given my current situation. To provide more context, I have been working a full-time job since my 4th semester and am currently earning more than what FAANG companies offer. If I choose to pursue a master's degree, I will likely be leaving my well-established job. Although I have the opportunity to work remotely, as I am currently doing, I am not sure if I would be able to cover my expenses with that arrangement. The reason I am considering this is to obtain a working visa that would allow me to work abroad.
Thank you for your comments. Additionally, which country would you suggest for pursuing a master's degree?
PS: Since I have been working alongside my studies, my CGPA isn't that high, its 8.15 as of now.

I agree inflation is everywhere, Recession is going on ,AI is here to help you increase your productivity or to eat some of the jobs too , Many Indian expats are returning to India , at the same time many of them are also giving up Indian citizenship, i know tech is booming in India but on the other hand we became the most populous country in the world , unless you are from top IITs Nits and iiits or top B-schools , it's very difficult to secure good headstart at entry level in such a competition, although in the long run experience matters but it's really difficult to secure good entry level jobs so what you will suggest:-

1.Keep on fighting in such a pool of applicants in govt job , other entry level jobs with Tier 1 candidates or in cat for tier 1 b schools(according to me tier 2 and tier 3 b-schools aren't worth the time and money) as a GEM

2. Go for masters abroad in a good university within 1 year or 2 , live frugally for 2-3 years there , earn good money , repay the education loan( if taken) , save for 8-10 years and then return to India to either diversify the sources or invest smartly

So my sibling is about to graduate with a degree in Computer Science from a T2 college in a few months and wants to now do MS in the US because of three reasons: 

1. Low levels of violence against women(Sexual Assault) [IMPORTANT!!]
2. Want to do innovative work in the US instead of working on copycat products in India
3. Ambition of living in the US long term because of free-er culture

But my parents have flat out refused to fund the education or even help her with a loan due to regressive mentality (nahi jaana baahar, 2-3 saal kaam karo aur shaadi karo chup chaap)

She has accepted a job offer for now and will make 14L/year. What are her options? Should she drop the idea of MS abroad?

What to do if your parents refused to fund your education(MS/MBA) abroad?

Two options -  
  
 1. As I read, she will making 14L, save aggressively and self fund herself to MS. Places like UoCincinati or Texas univs aren’t that costly. She might able to score a diversity scholarship/waiver as well. 
  
 2. Start looking for Germany based unis. They have minimal uni fee, she just need to maintain the living expenses.  
  
 My 2 cents - Working for 2-3 years before MS will bring more clarity and increase the RoI of investments.

I graduated from college about 3 months back and have been applying, cold emailing and doing everything but things aren't moving- either there are too many applicants, budget is not right or the role is shit. I have good internship experience with established cos. but still unable to land at a good place where I can grow and learn.
