Having worked for many years at adtech company now, i can really resonate with this piece of advise. Many of the growth experts in India know growth only by spending on affiliates, google and facebook. 

Sucks! how can we improve this?

A familiar story: New product launches. Nice spike, but it dies down. The product is low freq – gotta spend to grow. Marketing spend increases, it’s profitable! More is spent, more money is raised via VCs. OMG this is working! Party!

I am the first Marketing member to join this startup. CEO wants hypergrowth without paid marketing. He has termed this as “Growth Hacking”.

Product is not launched yet, no full time employees, no marketing budget, operating in a space which is yet to be proven and he wants me to crack “word of mouth marketing”. He’s a smart guy but it gets on my nerves sometimes. You either grow gradually without paying for marketing or grow at a breakneck speed with ads. How do I explain him this?

I can't believe the hype - the LinkedIn masturbation pre presentation was annoying. The teams were n00bs and presented like 7th grade kids in elocution (I'm looking at you Sama Patkar). The ideas were juvenile, classic Excel sheet circus, and none of the judges grilled them. I mean really guys if you think this is growth - it's 2000. My CMO and plenty of untalented marketing folks i know would've ripped this shit apart. I kept waiting for something to learn. But what a waste of 3 hours.

An Indian social app (not koo or sharechat) hired a guy who would go on different groups in the app and write “jai shri ram”. He will get about 40 replies saying the same. They said startup claimed high engagement and retention with this tactic

Overall 12 years experience(10 years post MBA from top 15 b-schools). Is 40LPA low, because I kind of feel so. Have ESOPs worth 50 lakhs. Have only around 4 years of experience into growth marketing. Rest was majorly in Consulting and FMCG sales.

Hi All, I wanted to leverage this community and see if I can get some contacts or Referals of good B2B saas marketing agencies. I have reached out to a few folks via organic searches but nothing impressive has turned up so far. 

We are a series A funded company and are looking to solve our TOFU problems. It would he great if we can suggest anything. Thanks all!!

Looking for a B2B Saas marketing agency.

Team is less than 10 people still, slowly growing. Net profit could be higher, that's top priority to work on now. Total cash invested by founders was 15L over 3-4 years.

Yearly revenue :

2019 - less than 30k 
20 - 1.5L (after pivot)
22 - 50L

Getting to the first lakh and then to 10 lakhs was probably the most challenging part.

We thought of shutting down multiple times, struggled through multiple fights between founders. Glad we didn't stop working and pulled through.

This is my 4th or 5th attempt at starting up. Except for 1, other attempts didn't even get to incorporation stage.

Would love to hear from other bootstrappers and their experience.

Personal milestone: 1Cr in rev as a bootstrapper

We’re at about $400K bootstrapped with a team of 2 (me included), started in 2019. Revenue almost doubled in last 18 months. 
  
 My personal observation is that if you’re going to bootstrap, you need to go after high margin, niche markets (unless you’re doing services) because you don’t have a lot of money for marketing. 
  
 Our main growth channel is affiliates and SEO. Growth will be slow so we just have to keep at it. Also, beware of VC-funded competitors.
