It’s an exercise in patience to get back to reading (after Instagram reels addiction)

Haven't completely fixed my attention span but trying to do it

Completely detached myself from Instagram and Facebook

Uninstalled YouTube and disabled search and watch history.

Try consuming long form or text content only. I have been using reddit and Twitter more than usual but they themselves are pushing me away.

Man, I would pay for youtube premium in a blink, if they could just add a disable shorts option. Yt does aggressive shorts promotion on feed. Yt vanced used to have that option, but now vanced itself is gone.

On twitter- have you exhausted the rate limit for today already? 😂

The 5-10 min click bait videos are equally damaging, avoid consuming content that you don't search, aimless surfing is a big reason for high screen time.

10 mins of mindfulness meditation daily. You can follow any of the guided ones online. The main issue with attention span is that you don't realise when you loose attention.
Mindfulness will help you train your mind to first understand when it's loosing attention and how to bring it back gently without judging yourself etc.

It changed me life for the better and it's just 10mins a day. You'll feel much lighter and get better sleep as well after a month or so if doing it.

Try it out.

Thanks mate, will try to inculcate this habit gradually.
Do you use any specific meditation apps like headspace, etc or does yt videos do the trick for you?

Also, since you have been already doing it from quite some time I assume, any particular recommendations or tips you would like to give. That would be good.

Ok so the cult app has an amazing beginners course for meditation. It's by a psychiatrist called Dr shyam bhat and he's a super popular mental heal professional in India. Those sessions will get you up and running within a week and will help you inculcate a long term habit. Just follow them

These sessions are accessible even when you have only the online program package of cult.

My only piece of advice here is to not try too many different things you'll get confused. Just stick to this one. They have mini series for focus as well but it's a good idea to get the basics down first. It's called the foundation course on meditation. Just 10mins.

Also just take it one day at a time and trust the process. It's something that wil show you immediate results but long term benifits (as i. Experiencing now) is immense and life-changing.
Just take it easy on yourself. Remember to take it slow and that you have the rest of your life ahead of you. This is just one step in the right direction.
