Torn between a family trip and work. What should I be doing?

Hey everyone, Been dreaming of taking the wife and kid on a trip for ages, and Japan has always been our dream destination. We're thinking about going sometime in October or November this year for a week-long adventure. This is our first international trip ever,Should we go with a travel package or try to plan everything ourselves? We're also on a budget, so any tips on keeping things affordable in Japan would be a lifesaver! Speaking of budgets, does anyone have a rough estimate of how much a trip to Japan for a family of three (including flights!) might cost?

I’ve been looking for a job for at least three months now and very grateful to start working next week. I’ve had a month long trip scheduled and planned since the end of the year last year (everything is booked and paid for) this month long trip is seven weeks after my start date. I didn’t mention it during the interview or during the hiring process, but I’ll be working (in a financial institution) next week. My fear is that they will fire me or be weird when I start working there, since I’ve struggled so much to find a job. I know I need to tell them and I want to. I need help figuring out the how? Any thoughts?

Hey there, I am a fresher who started working at a company with hybrid work policy. I have been seeing many people from my company, as well as friends from other companies, who visit their hometown quite frequently. Now, I don't have a problem in meeting the family, but what I have been wondering is, that nowadays the flight tickets are so expensive (mind you, many of them live in North India), so at what frequency should one visit their hometown? How do you find the right balance between managing your finances and making time for your family?

We’re pretty chill. But I’m planning to go for a vacation to Kerala for 10 days almost, and since i told them they have been weird. Immediate response was to say that it’ll be tough to manage the project and that long a leave isn’t possible I debated back and they were like fine. But since then it’s just been very cold. What can I do? 🤕

I just got a offer from one Indian Finance company for Pune location (I would have to relocate). They are giving 13.90 LPA, out of which 11 is fixed and 2.75 is performance pay. They have alternate Saturday working policy, WFO, strict office timings and lots of workload sometimes more than 9 hours of working. What they have to offer is good appraisal cycle (> 10%), and a promotion in 18 months. Now my challenge is I joined a MNC X org in the second month of March with 12.55 LPA (10.5 is fixed and 1.26 is performance pay). What they have to offer is Hybrid, chill environment, free lunch, good medical benefits, and WLB. What they don’t offer is good appraisal ( they have standard appraisal policy same for everyone around 4-7%) and promotion. I’m confused on what to do!! I’m open to working on Saturday and with heavy workload, as the money is priority. But since I already joined company X and people here are so good. I’m looking for any suggestions or your personal experience. Note: I didn’t told to Indian finance company that I joined MNC X. And the profile is in Analytics one is BFSI and another one is HR.

I have lost all motivation to work from the day I resigned. I am faking updates, sometimes delaying stuff uselessly. I dont work but later I do feel guilty about it. What to do guys?

I know a lot of people love working from home. But small rant here. Honestly, straight out of college I thought I would do too. But no, I absolutely do not. Why? 1. No personality development. It's honestly like an online college all over again (1/2 of my college "life" was online). I talk to a screen, waste a lot of time otherwise. 2. I don't have a room to call my own. I know this is going to make me sound like a privileged brat but I need my privacy to feel my full confident self. My family members are always on top of my head and spy on me during work. No they really do. 3. I hate, absolutely LOATHE approaching people on teams. I'm more social, confident and comfortable working in an offline setting be it presenting something or talking to senior folks in general. 4. I have NO life outside of the computer/home. My hobbies, interests everything are inside the tiny room I share with my parents. I still have 2 different desks (which are literally next to each other) for work and personal stuff respectively. When I had offline semesters, it was really awesome as I had balance. I graduated in 2023 and of course I have a lot to learn, but I'm seriously thinking about searching for another job that's not WFH. I'm still early career and I think I should not be working remote. Am I stupid?

As part of the PIP I have been given tasks to do alongside my regular project and they said that they evaluate me based on that. I'm supposed to do these PIP related tasks outside work hours and weekends. My TL expects me to give updates on this every single day. Expecting significant updates, knowing clearly I'm supposed to do it outside work hours. He's the one who put me on PIP by creating a lot of noise, even included the India Head of the company, saying that I'm the person because of whom the project timelines got delayed. Now he's asking me to prioritise the PIP task over the project. He's upset that he's not getting regular updates from me on the PIP task. This situation is super confusing. Idk what to do. How to manage my time with regular project + PIP task + job search + personal responsibilities + household chores?

I am working atleast 12 hours daily for the past couple of months and now i feel this is taking a toll on my mental health. Increment was pathetic variable is slashed and I don’t see any light at the end of this tunnel. What should i do in such a situation. Any suggestions please. The fact that things have gotten so bad that i am now contemplating a change in career. IT sector seems good from outside with all the money and stuff but from inside its a dark dark place. I need some suggestions what should i do? Should i leave or continue to work hoping that things might get better after a certain point of time?
