My manager is acting strange since I asked for a leave. What should I do?
We’re pretty chill. But I’m planning to go for a vacation to Kerala for 10 days almost, and since i told them they have been weird. Immediate response was to say that it’ll be tough to manage the project and that long a leave isn’t possible I debated back and they were like fine. But since then it’s just been very cold. What can I do? 🤕

U can shorten your trip by making it a 5-6 day trip.

Never tell a Indian manager, you are going on vacation/ Buying a house/ wealth/ professional details of your husband/wife.
You want a day off - call in sick.
want a vacation - make a illness drama for a month... dont take any day off. just pass the info that something is wrong - stomach ache/ headache / nausea .etc.... and then tell them you are feeling sick, need to go home to getter better. Always tell them a fake date. they will ask you to change it. Then give them the original date.
never share good news within your company. Buying a house - tell them you are going bankrupt, complain about how your in laws have big demands but offer no support.
If you have a better employed spouse/ supportive in laws - guard this as state secret.
very pragmatic approach for these micromanaging managers who can't let their reportees to have a vacation with peace of mind.Even when they are told in advance like a month or few months prior.

Depends on how early you tell your manager. If you had told him/her a month back, then he/she shouldn’t be acting weird. If you are informing him/her in the last minute, then it’s your fault and you should have informed sooner.

Its actually the managers fault, if he didn’t plan the it well and take the leaves of the team members before communicating the timelines to stake holders, even if the timelines were committed long back everyone adds some breathing space to take care of sudden leaves unaccounted surprises in the development life cycle,
Leaves are your rights take it and don’t think too much, come back and maybe few days work a bit extra to massage his ego till you find a better place and exit

For starters, taking a vacation is your earned privilege and you should NEVER be guilty of enjoying that. Now coming to the attitude of your boss / company..
Always remember, that you can’t control how others behave and you feed in to your negativity or apprehensions by overthinking a decision like taking a leave. It is what it is.
Now there is another side to it - how critical you are to the project, at what stage is the project and how much heads up have you given to the company/boss to plan for your absence. This equation is also important to be mindful of and so if you’re springing up the leave request last min, in a crunch situation that everyone else is working to get over…it does make the case of the rest of team/boss to not be thrilled about your leave. However, if you’ve been transparent about the planned leave and have been actively involved in planning things while you’re away, then just pack your bags and leave!
Dude sorry to say this but all service based companies have boomer managers.
Why do they have boomer managers and mediocre?
Because these people are incompetent and most of them won't be able to get a job in product based companies.
Why is he cold?
Because ever since he started working in the IT sector he had a toxic managers, check his LinkedIn profile I am pretty sure he is from mediocre companies.
And he thinks acting cold towards you just because you ask for leaves is normal (Because it is out of the ordinary for him. )
I am pretty sure he thinks "how dare this guy ask for 10 days of leaves, when I was his age I used to work for xx hrs ,never took leaves for more than 3 days etc" Just because he fucked up his early days doesn't mean need to fuck up your 20s as well.
This is called the boomer uncle's mindset.
Boomer uncle managers/employees are generally toxic. They don't respect your space.
They think they are older and can say and do anything to you, since you are younger(that's how our Indian culture is dont question the elders[this stupid]).
I worked in Accenture as well. Most people I met had a mediocre mindset [no drive to achieve anything ]and toxic managers (also met great people as well).
I quit accenture without any offer in hand(best decision ever) now I work as an ML engineer.
My suggestion to you is : plan your exit, evaluate interviewers as well when you are taking interviews.Dont get into companies with boomer mindset people.
Do your job get paid until you leave the company.I am pretty sure this guy will make your life hard for months to come.(I hope not).Try not to ruin your relationship with your manager.Deal with him somehow and leave this service based shithole company.
I will stop yapping now.

Baki toh you need to apply some chanakya Neeti to make your manager agree so that he longer be concerned about the delayed work. Butter lagao sir!!
Though it’s bit immature on the manager’s part. You can do some back up (if possible) and provide a plan to him/her on best mitigation with your leave plan

They are giving you silent treatment perhaps
Dont succumb to it
Take your trip and enjoy since they approved it. Don't let the cold behaviour get to you.
Try to ask for leave a month prior and preferably don't mention it as a vacation etc.

Try being proactive, participate in projects. They should know that you are a good resource and explain them the urgency of it. If this still doesn't work out, keep going with the flow.
