Data Scientists on Grapevine: Should I Ask For Sick Leave After Being Cheated On

Me : I am not feeling well and have asked for sick leave. Manager : Okay but is this a genuine sick leave? I was pissed off after I saw this question and What are your views on this guys 😏?

So, I'm a graduate from BBA and I'm working with a small to medium sized organization with around 200 people. I'm a guy. It's in Education Sector. I joined right after my graduation. The first year, I did nothing so I was given a formality hike of 5k. They offered me 20k initially p.m. Now my 2nd year working here is completed so now, I have done more than 25 major roles which no one can do. That makes up work of more than 20+ people. Now that i asked for a raise, they are saying they are in losses and they don't have the budget and shit. The only reason I'm working here is that I love the Manager aka Director. He has been like a mentor, when I was facing hardship, he has given me money without even a second thought. I have been discussing this with him. Now he was saying the organization might increase my salary to 30k. I'm like the fuck are you even speaking. I really don't wanna leave the organization because of this person at the same time I don't wanna stay in an organization which doesn't give an absolute crap about me. Please tell me what shall I do. These are the points I raised: 1. I need to get paid for the value I give. I have done more than 20+ peoples works. Even if you hire some incompetent people, the time, value and efforts would cost more than to pay me. His counter: Treat this organization as a cost-cutting and work with me on other businesses and which he offered me to compensate with if I work there My thought: if I work here, and get compensates there. What about the work do there? How will I be compensated? 2. We are ready to pay more to people who do jackshit work but we have policies to people who actually do work? They have gone over the budget for people who talked big and did absolute shit. His counter: We are in losses and we might not have the budget My thought: So we are doing cost cutting by hiring shitty people for more money and compensating it by paying the valuable people jackshit? Please help me Thanks!

Got impacted in the layoff at Sharechat today after working 4+years here. Got the news an hour back and have not shared this with anyone in my family yet. I am sad and have to share this news with my fiancee and in-laws today. Tell them why I have to cancel vacation plans and look out for a job instead. I am into an arranged married and my in-laws are very conservative and don't understand tech work culture, I don't know how they will take the news of a layoff. I'm anticipating they will be shocked, her asshole brother-in-law will even make fun of me. To make it worse the fault is mine for believing I won't be laid off when my company was not doing well. I thought it would not happen to me and never looked out in advance. Fuck 2023. What a shit show Christmas.

Hey folks, I’ve taken few leaves to connect with family and relax but I’m feeling guilty for not working. I see slack and emails being exchanged and that makes me feel I’m not doing enough and it will impact my appraisal. So essentially I’ve taken leaves but unable to enjoy which was the purpose of taking leaves. Does anyone else relate to this? How do y’all cope with this? Any tips?

I have been working in a startup for the past 5 months the Work Culture is getting to me. The lead tells me he wants the deliverables at any cost. I am loosing interest in the job by the day and i feel i need a break to reset myself i have started getting health complications as well. I roughly have 8.5 lakhs in my account and by the time i leave i will have 10 lakh lumpsum in account. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I don’t carry the burden of marriage and there is 0 loan on me.

They also mentioned that if they grant me a leave, it'll showcase that they are biased towards me and hence other employees will ask for leaves as well. I'm really concerned and I am considering resigning given how the situation is. I have a lot of other issues with the firm and if I had to cite them, it'd be a 4000 word essay. Confused as what should I do.

Hello I am a 26 years old female who works in a IT company, but meanwhile I am stuck with my life neither my job nor my relationship is going well, I am actually not so "relationship" type i am kinda marriage type of person, ❤️ I love someone who is from middle class and I am ready to settle if he is earning 40k even but what matters is love and understanding of both of person, Recently I am facing issues in my relationship like he is ready to leave me if the situation is not in future, and while I am not getting any future security from him i really feel anxious and getting panic attacks each day, I am not able to sleep properly Meanwhile, I am saying no to projects in my company and I am not showing any willingness to work further, honestly no body is there to guide me what should I do, my mom she supports me but I am unable to sleep properly in night and each and everyday I am crying and crying, not eating properly, i really need ur suggestion guys Please if anyone can suggest me or anything i should know i will be very grateful.........

So thing is In last 1 week my manager/project lead has been threating that you will have to work on weekend if you dont complete your task by friday and put the the task to testing. And this boils my blood soo damnn much . But as a person who is on lowest level i cant do/say shit. I just disagree with him and dont argue. What would you have done .[ practical advice only] And thing is i do all my dev work on time even earlier almost everytime and he just goes around and threatens everyone with this. Soo annoying thay dumbfk needs to get rekt .

Currently working as SDE-2 at Amazon, promoted some 1 year back. I'm totally burned out from work pressure, oncalls, layoff and performance review cycles every 3 months. Thinking of resigning without any offer by June/July. Will this be the right decision in today's market. I'll take some 2-3 months rest and start job hunting again, hopefully in better wlb companies. Just want to enjoy, travel to new places and prioritise my health. Balding and weight gain are major issues, and i don't think conditions will be improving in Amazon soon. BUT, the job market is tough, and IDK how it will impact my career Is this the right decision or I'm a fool Total experience: 3.5 Yrs Age : 27
