What do they do exactly? Many of them are earning well. I'm referring to those who work in big MNCs or large startups. I can see many companies with little to no ui changes over the years. And there are some companies which don't require a ui designer to work everyday as their products are deployed and there are less changes over the years. This made me question what the hell they are doing. Some even start with 50+lpa with no experience, in tech companies. I would also like to mention that some of these companies which hire designers for big bucks don't even have a good ui. Are companies giving away money for them to do nothing? These are based on some people I know who work in this industry.

Field is saturated and you will seriously struggle to find work. Not gate keeping, just laying out the reality. If you're up for the challenge then good, if not then you should look at some other fields. Product design is kind of weird now and is tougher than you think. It is no more a creative field where you can come up with unique ideas or have fun creating stuff. It is intoxicating, tedious and requires constant fighting with the stakeholders, listening to your micro managers and implementing stuff they "ordered" you to do disguised as feedback. Did I say, it is mostly copy work nowadays and portraying it as a whole new feature/design that is unique to your org/team? It’s 1% creativity, 99% stroking the ego of your managers and bosses just so you don't get laid off. (Not at capgemini, burner account)

Whenever I overhear someone say that, "Can you just make it fast? It's just a simple design, so it shouldn't take long, right?" it makes me a little pukish. 🤡

I am currently working as an Industrial Designer at a Startup ( 14 LPA ). I have a Master’s Degree in Design from Indian Institute of Science. I am not finding jobs and am very confused about wether to continue as an Industrial Designer since I see very less demand as of now. On the other hand UX design is very lucrative in terms of perks and package. Your thoughts would be really helpful.

UX DESIGNER SALARY INDIA TODAY Hey guys! Do UX Designers in India with 4-5 year experience get salary of 40-42LPA???

Context- I’m 30 YO. Have 4.5 years of overall experience and 3.5 years in User Experience Design. Ive got a background in physical product design & I landed in UX due to non availability of 3D projects in TCS. My leaning in UX since 3.5 years has been hands-on. I’ve worked for a client for almost 3.5 years as a user experience designer. I used to work in silo 95% of the time and hence didn’t know the right YX methodology to use during the UX research process, didn’t know the rights questions that I need to ask to both the stakeholders and users as I didn’t educate myself through any online courses regarding the same. Before I graduated, I was told be a few friends that ‘UX is doable and it’s very easy up learn. If you can pursue physical product design, you can easily do UX. Fast forward 4 years, I’m compiling all the work I’ve done for the client and I’ve realised a lot of loopholes and lack of depth both in the design process and in the designs. Neither I asked the right questions during the User interview nor my design fully solves the user’s problems completely. I have to add these 2 projects I d worked for the client as I need to showcase real world projects in my portfolio. I want to switch not just due to bad pay. I want to switch for better exposure, for growth and to learn to work in a team. I can’t go to the client and gain more clarity on the needs and requirements of the project as I no longer work with them. I will re-educate myself regarding the user research methodologies, best UX practices , UI design principles etc. But how do I showcase these projects which are flawed and has a lot of loopholes?

Hello everyone, After losing all of my hope in finding job related my stream, I wanted to try out something new. I wanted to go of UI/UX designer role. But to start that I would like to have some sort of roadmap that could help me start. I would like to know about what to expect from this industry and what kind of challenges I might face. If someone can share how they started and progressed then I would be thankful for the guidance.

So I have been doing freelancing from quite some time and have worked on web apps and mobile applications which were completely under me, client just brought the rough ideas of the product they were looking for and so I worked from scratch on those, although I was on learning stage still managed to deliver big projects alone. So I wanted to know does this count as product designer? Or still it will be just UI/UX designer? Also I am planing to join a company as full time how much salary can I ask them? Like I have around 2 years of experience although all were freelance projects. I have experience in designing modern UI websites to multi featured mobile apps, web apps and logos. If I go for interview how much can I ask in salary?
