I'm feeling really stuck and frustrated at work lately. Despite putting in my best efforts and consistently performing well, it seems like my manager is feeling threatened by my progress. He’s been rejecting my ideas and work without even reviewing them, and calling me out in meetings for not completing non-priority tasks. The environment has become really toxic and it's taking a toll on me. Has anyone experienced something similar? How did you handle it? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

What's the craziest superstition you've heard of or believe in?

I was at a friends place and it suddenly started raining heavily. I had to reach my girlfriends place ASAP. She was already very angry that I was not spending enough time with her. The problem was that I was not getting any auto on Uber or Rapido.

I stopped an auto and asked it for a ride. He quoted Rs 800 for a 4km ride. I was like, "Are you crazy?" 
I somehow negotiated it down to Rs. 500. But it made me wonder why is this city like this.

Like everyone is trying to scam you. Every one is a grifter, from your landlord to auto wallahs to the cops.

So we all know at this point that if somone wants to crack MAANG or any top tier product companies then learning system design is inevitable. And there are infinitely many resources to read and learn about it from an interview standpoint. Usually this would be like how would you design a product X and why specific tech stacks are chosen.

What I would like to know is how people actually make such design decisions in these organizations. It would be great if it can be elaborated on the following points: 

- The processes involved from idea to implementation.
- Who all are involved and the role or contributions made by each person from junior to senior engineers, PMs and researchers and any other people relevant. 
- What are the aspects considered when implementing and what all metrics taken into consideration especially if it is major thing that can effect their current operations.
- Incase the implementation fails, then what happens (fallbacks, rectifications etc)? 
- How a specific technology is decided upon including cases where creating a custom solution is considered?

Any incidents or real life situations that can be shared would be great but I can understand if specifics need to be left out due to NDA/ Anonymity.

I'm working at a decently large firm here in Bangalore, leading a cool project that involves stuff I really like, like modeling and data engineering. Plus, I'm helping leadership team with some cool projects which is giving me a lot of visibility in the org. Lately I'm finding it hard to stay motivated.

I'm on medication and seeing a therapist for depression, and I’ve been feeling a lot better overall. It's just that with all these responsibilities I'm not feeling happy. I sometimes vent out on juniors or colleagues (erratic behaviour).  

Has anyone else gone through something like this? What helped you get past this kind of mental block? Any tips or advice would be really helpful.

We evolved to live in small tribes and now live outside of our natural habitat, in an advanced civilization. One effect of this mismatch is that there are a bunch of things that feel dangerous to us that aren't actually dangerous, leading us to be way too risk averse. Like:

- Asking someone out on a date
- Trying something new even though you'll suck at it at first
- Quitting your job to start a company or try a career in the arts
- Putting your real voice out there on controversial topics

For primates living in a small tribe, rejection, embarrassment, failure, and criticism posed actual material dangers. These things are not dangerous today, but our software hasn't been updated. So we miss out on living our best life, hiding in the 1-4 zone of the danger scale. In a world of overly risk averse people, the epiphany that the 4-7 zone is actually a safe place to play is a superpower.

Was going somewhere near in the Hosur road area and saw a dude trying to get hold of a girl while she was just trying to avoid him. I got suspicious and stopped the bike and asked him "hey, what's this? The dude was on a bike and i thot that i saw the girl with a hand support(i might be wrong) which people wear when it gets fractured. The dude was straight up hostile towards me.."Hey who are you? This is my wife". The girl didn't say shit. So i assumed OK. and i went ahead but i was still not satisfied. I went and little ahead but then i reversed and on returning i saw the girl had gone way ahead and the bike dude was now talking to someone on phone when i noticed that his shitty bike didn't had any plates. Then he stormed off behind that girl and i also pursued. This time when he saw me he gave me a look from the other side of road and came onto me like he was going to hit me but i also showed the same temper and didn't back out. 
Then there was a heated exchange between us, threats were given by him, No violence , No profanity from both sides.

My Questions:
1. I have hard time believing she was her wife. They were both looking like chapri but i didnt see any signs that you see indian wife has(hindu or muslim whatever) like burqa, Bangles etc. 

2. The dude seemed damn suspicious to me. His demeanor was very violent.

Concern:

I go through that route frequently and with my family. Should i be worried that the dude has singled me out? Because the area often becomes pretty lonely at night and i travel in night also.

I'm curious about the salary structures that MNCs follow or Expat assignments given to employees hired in India that excel and get a chance to work in offices outside of India. There's very little clarity on how specifics are determined, at least that's the case in our company. If possible, try to cover these aspects in your answer: 
1) Duration of these expat assignments: Is it few months/few years/permanent? 
2) Salary of India office: If the expat assignment is temporary, is it the norm that over and above your expat salary, you'll continue receiving your India salary tax free? 
3) Once the expat assignment is completed, are you expected to come back to India office and give KT to others, or you'll continue doing more expat assignments? 
4) What perks/allowances do you generally get as a part of the expat assignment, which you did not get in the India office? 

Please mention any other relevant aspects or weird incidents that you might have encountered first hand or of someone else going on an Expat assignment.

I know the question sounds weird, but hear me out. 
Have seen a couple of deaths in the extended family where my 2 cousins between 27-30 age have passed away and now seeing their parents/spouses/babies suffer. 
I want to be a bit prepared in case I suddenly happen to depart this world in the same way. I know that there's no way I can prepare for the emotional turmoil that my family will go through but at least I can try to reduce some hassle and provide some financial help. 

I have a term insurance of 1.75 Cr. 
And I just realised that though I have it, nobody knows the details like policy number etc. So, I'm preparing a document with those details.
