What made it worst? The pay, the culture, or your manager?

What's the worst company you have worked for?

ICICI Bank, they had a strict sign in timing policy where if you are late to corporate office, half day salary would be cut, It would be reversed only when manager approves. The sign out time used to be 5.15pm, but you would be made to sit till 8 pm by most of the managers even if your job is done for the day. A sign out at 6 pm used to be called as half day by most of the managers. 
 I heard now they donot have this dictatorial policy.

I graduated from an old IIM where I wanted to work in the finance domain. But I am stuck in an IT job where I am not even using my teachings of MBA and it is a job equivalent to a BTech Grad (Oracle EPM). For this reason I thought of opting for Bank SO. Planning to do it for 3-4 years which will set my career in core finance and help me switch to a different and strong finance job in future. But I am having doubts as it will be tough to handle my education loan. Where I would be earning half what I am getting here in my post IIM job. (Will be getting 60k pm in my SO whereas I am earning 1.2L pm currently in a toxic environment and in a state where I don't understand the language)

I am looking at a potential Senior Product Manager role in HSBC India. Wanted some details.
- How is the work culture
- What's the salary range for SPM (I am severely underpaid hence would I get paid basis my current salary or basis HSBC range)

- Any other positives or negatives about company would be useful.

I applied for the opening at JPL (Jio Pvt Ltd) in June of last year. Received the interview call on 4th July and concluded the entire process with the final HR round on 17th August (already painfully slow).

This was followed by a period of complete silence from the HR's end, which finally broke on 30th September (after probably 30+ follow-ups) when they gave me a verbal offer and gave me confidence for the final offer release within a few days.

Well, the final offer came on 27th December 2023, close to 3 months after the verbal offer (again, after probably 40+ follow-ups). Joined on 16th January 2024 (due to some emergency), and was treated to a GREAT campus in Navi Mumbai. --And this is probably where everything good with JPL ends.

After spending 2 days, I understand that things are not what I expected from any Product organisation, and that I made the wrong decision. 

Gave myself 30 days to ensure the feelings were backed by more experiences, and I'm not acting impulsively. Day 31, I started interviewing with other organisations, and fortunately was able to get in touch with the HR from another organisation that I rejected for Jio, and they were kind enough to resend the offer letter.

Dropped the bomb on 8th March 2024, startling everyone because people usually don't like leaving their comfortable lives at Jio. My L1 and L2 aligned on a 14 days notice period, but the "smartasses" in the HR department thought its a great idea for me to serve the entire notice period of 60 days, and thus I'm stuck here till 6th May 2024.

Opening the forum for people with any amount of experience to ask questions about the hiring process, the culture, the turn-off, the decision to quit, ANYTHING.

A lot of you might have seen the HDFC bank video where a senior executive got batshit crazy at his juniors and was yelling at them. 

This is my story of a a similar experience in a well funded NBFC. Hint: Aye Aye

So, i joined this NBFC startup with a cushy package, let's say 35 lpa in 2021, to transform the corporate. 

Joined in a leadership role but the reality hit too soon. The work environment was too toxic. People didn't know how to behave, the leaders are monsters and there were no weekends for straight 4 months.

I started yelling at everyone around me and i was stressed 24/7. 

One fine day, i went straight with a fuck you and resigned from the job, took a pay cut and rejoined corporate. I joined there from an MNC.
Life is smooth now. 

Remember, if your think Banking sector is bad, NBFCs are worse and the startup players are a notch below. 

Pay cuts are bad, it took me two years to get back to market. However at all of our lives, it is very important not to promote this shitty culture.
