What should I aim to achieve in my 1:1's

I just started my career, and this is my first job as a Front-end developer.

Everytime my manager and I have a 1:1, I feel like we talk about random stuff like I started exercising, went on a trip etc. I don't know what people usually do in monthly 1:1's .

what should I aim for?

Discuss your performance, and what more does he/she expect from you, and how you can achieve that. Ask for regular feedback, communicate more in the team, give ur suggestions and input on things outside your scope. Get involved in product decisions.. things like these will make u evolve into a software engineer from a programmer.

Structure the meeting. Ask for feedback on work you’ve done. Ask how soon can you get promotion, and what are the important projects you need to work on for that.

Talk about the impact of the projects. Try to improve your learning curve, ask for some challenging work.

You should try to make the 1:1 absolutely productive. Tell them you need a template, and you update the template before meeting.

Template can consist of 1/ key results 2/ blockers 3/ learnings 4/ project updates
