When was the last time you did a random act of kindness for a stranger?

I'm currently in my notice period as I didn't feel like this was the right place for me, so I quit without a plan. Yesterday, while traveling through Uber, the driver told me about how he nearly got killed. He has two kids in Kolkata, and he's in Bangalore without the money to get his car fixed. I don't know what got into me, but I handed over 5k bucks to him. I usually don't bet, but I placed a wager on the India vs. SA match and made 50k after betting 30k. Last night, during a La Liga match, I went again and went yolo on Real. Despite them getting a red card and scoring in the 92nd minute, it was an absolute miracle. Making me another 30k I think it is God paying it forward :) If you've read this far, thanks, and here's a gentle reminder to pay it forward.

It's been some time since I received some kindness from people. The last time I heard some kind words or got a kind gesture was very long ago. Today, whoever I interact with behaves absurdly without any compassion. The shopkeepers won't talk politely if asked about a product, the house owners will talk rudely and make random rules any day, people won't smile on the metro, in restaurants they will shout on the waiters and the list goes on. I am not even bringing up autowalas and taxiwalas. What does it take to show some compassion? How much does it take to compromise a little bit so that other person feels good about this world? Why does everyone want to just rip other off? 😞

Write about a time you made someone feel very nice. Hopefully it can be a collection of ideas that others can take forward. If somehow a few people do something nice as a result, that would be powerful. To start with an example: Bought a laptop for my grandfather because he wanted to continue working post 60. Helped him learn Excel, Gmail, Chrome browsing over many days. He really picked it up, and works as a consultant for new companies in the industry he worked all his life.

e.g in my case: 1. I go for a walk almost everyday around 12:30ish AM (in HSR). Helps me process how my day went. 2. Whenever I used to book a rapido bike/scooty, i used to drive it myself with the rapido driver as pillion. (just asked them nicely, 90% of them didn't refuse). Now I have my own bike though. 3. Most of the time when I have traveled in a train, i travel in the general box of trains. Only to connect/listen to stories of that section of our society, even though i could afford tickets for other classes. your turn:

Was going somewhere near in the Hosur road area and saw a dude trying to get hold of a girl while she was just trying to avoid him. I got suspicious and stopped the bike and asked him "hey, what's this? The dude was on a bike and i thot that i saw the girl with a hand support(i might be wrong) which people wear when it gets fractured. The dude was straight up hostile towards me.."Hey who are you? This is my wife". The girl didn't say shit. So i assumed OK. and i went ahead but i was still not satisfied. I went and little ahead but then i reversed and on returning i saw the girl had gone way ahead and the bike dude was now talking to someone on phone when i noticed that his shitty bike didn't had any plates. Then he stormed off behind that girl and i also pursued. This time when he saw me he gave me a look from the other side of road and came onto me like he was going to hit me but i also showed the same temper and didn't back out. Then there was a heated exchange between us, threats were given by him, No violence , No profanity from both sides. My Questions: 1. I have hard time believing she was her wife. They were both looking like chapri but i didnt see any signs that you see indian wife has(hindu or muslim whatever) like burqa, Bangles etc. 2. The dude seemed damn suspicious to me. His demeanor was very violent. Concern: I go through that route frequently and with my family. Should i be worried that the dude has singled me out? Because the area often becomes pretty lonely at night and i travel in night also.

So I am a frequent Uber Shuttle user. I have travelled with the same driver a couple of times in the morning and very recently travelled with him for the first time in the evening while going back home. As soon as he saw me board the bus, he turned around and smiled at me with a lot of happiness in his eyes as if he had seen an old friend. It has been some time since this happened but I still remember his face and name since then since it is such a pleasant memory for me. Some people are truly pure souls and I hope there are more such people in our world. I for sure have learnt this from him.
