Why are birthday and placement bumps not classified as ragging?
Have you seen/ experienced this at college? Some are brutal Boys would hit the ones who got placed with belts. I was traumatized to say the least. Girls would make those tight bony fist and bump hard on the back. Dude you could kill or paralyze someone like that But no one speaks against them. Faculty are aware too. Why is it so?
These are classified as ragging but ppl choose to stay silent. Administration won't help you with out a complaint. If you complaint your frnds won't be with you anymore. They won't help you and post complaint ka alag scene .
This might be one reason.. also if they give you birthday bumps you can give them back on their bday harder. Thats why frnds keep it with in.

Give them back harder. If they die or lose consciousness, I'll be charged with murder or attempt to murder.
It's all good unless that happens
I have seen my frnds doing this , the guy can’t even sit for days. They use slippers, kicks, boots, belt etc

Ig young lady, this is how we celebrate one's achievements in colleges atleast and beat the shit out of that person not literally 😅. And we do the same when their time comes.
Is there any term like mini murder or mini ragging?

Aapne bhi diye hai na 😅
I purchased a special bumps shoes, was the first one to be called for opening the ceremonies 🤣
I don’t support vulgar ragging, but a closed door approach leaves many spaces in the relationships. In desi unis, some kids-turned-adolescents learn first chapter of humility, team work and facing the real world during raggings. I see a huge difference in personalities of a desi engineer who studied in a residential environment against day boarding mode. Some other grads (where residential options are missing) miss a very good learning part of life.
Foreign unis like NTU/NUS take a week long orientation involving games, parties, teasers with clear guidelines.

People believe it's harmless fun.
Even if sometimes someone gets hurt seriously such news doesn't come out that much in the public domain (until and unless it's a matter of life or death).
During the second year of Engineering, we got some new classmates who had completed their diploma and all were from different colleges.
And few of them had seen some people getting seriously injured in their respective colleges so they abstained from such practices.
On the other hand, the other set of people hadn't seen someone getting seriously injured so the continued with such practices.
