Background Verification
Do companies disclose compensation details, internal pay-grades, internal designation/grade of their ex-employee to the background verification agencies employed my the ex-employees's new employer ?
I had been toiling in my current organization for a good while despite the compensation not being totally fair. Whenever I brought this discussion up with the CEO, he always played the friend card and promised to give me what I deserve once the company raises the next round. He also claimed to have supposedly saved me from the layoffs which was completely in his control in the first place. Now I got a better offer, kind of like a dream offer- one that I well deserve, and have convinced a challenging panel to get. One small concern is that during the initial stages of the application, I lied about how much I was getting paid currently. Now that I actually made it and got the offer, I have to submit the documents. How far are these things taken seriously?
Do not lie. You are setting yourself up for an intervention later, if not an immediate rescind.
Share the existing salary slip and (only if they ask) say that you quoted the # you expected post March appraisal. Since you’re moving earlier, it’s lower than expected.
Yes payslip verification are taken seriously,
Know this that 3rd party verification agency is usually employed for this.
Do not ever fake payslip.
Once caught you will not only loose job but also burn bridges.
Nothing is stopping the HR to share this info with other HR's, in fact they will share because they will earn goodwill by sharing red flags.
Don't be a red flag, when you don't need to be.
But how do these agencies verify exactly?
Since the current CEO talks so much about being a friend, what if I ask him to back me up in this process? Would that work?
No, verbal commitment means shit.
Ask the CEO to give you properly forged payslips, that might work. He will get it done through the accountant.
Technically it's possible.
Anyway, pls don't go down this path, it's extremely risky and not worth it.
You are risking your reputation. That's all you will ever have in the professional world.
Think this - your close friend or your own brother or sister if they chose to do a startup will not hire you tomorrow because eof this simple fact if you can forge payslips you can do lot more damage.
You can never be trusted.
I work in a Background verification company, sharing false salary slips can be a problem. With any luck, you may pass through as well. Typically verifiers share your document with ex employer and ask them to verify it, now some employers just check tenure and designation, and confirm based on that. Most do not like to comment on compensation at all. However, the hr of the ex employer can look at the document, and if they can see or if they can feel it’s incorrect/photoshopped, they may mention that the document is fabricated. It’s a common reason for failing verification checks.
Another caveat is that the company that you are joining might not have employment check as part of the verification scope at all, or might not care and keep moving even when the check fails, but chances are that they will bring you pain, and may try to renegotiate or decline to onboard basis the failed employment check. I have seen enough in the background verification process that lying on documents is super risky these days.
This is helpful, thanks for sharing!
Sir, I had doubt on learning that verifiers asks ex employer/ HR to verify. If the ex employer is a large psu firm, how do they decide to whom to contact? Employee ka ek kaam toh dhang se HR nahi kar paate, BVC kya hee sunegi
I will give one idea on this..Use a fake payslip to get a offer on the company where you don't want to join. Then leverage on that offer for the company you want to join & share your original payslip along with offer on the company which you don't want to join. I have done this in my last switch and it worked well.
Great idea😄🤣
Same
Maine apna payslip Photoshop kiya tha, nothing happend.
Always remember, you miss 100% of the shots you don't take.

Hi all, I recently received an offer from a startup. They have included esops in that but the strike price will be the current price. Is that a common practice? I though the esops granted have a strike price of 0 or very close to that. ...
These days HRs are asking the employees before sitting for an interview about their current ctc. I don’t want to reveal that to them and want to get paid according to the industry standards/ based on the market conditions. How to smoothl...
