A Growing Trend of Media Censorship in India?

John Oliver's latest episode on Modi has been banned in India and is not available on YouTube or JioCinema. This isn't the first time content has been restricted in India; numerous videos, documentaries, and articles have faced similar fates. With Indian media completely compromised and foreign media facing bans, it raises important questions about press freedom and censorship. Is this okay?

PS: You can watch the video here before it is removed from Twitter, too. Should this really be banned? https://x.com/Azycontroll_/status/1797637824096936398?t=NRo8ZCbjR1ti23PwKVz8ug&s=19

He said media does not ask critical questions to Modi. We could say the same to US as well. No one asks Biden critical questions, all media outlets allowed to speak with him are Pro-Democrats and yet only our media is problematic for them.

If Biden is asked any question longer than two sentences he goes into dementia and starts talking gibberish. This is the guy running the largest economy on the planet.

Classic example of whataboutery

This is a form of red herring fallacy. This logical fallacy is used to mislead or distract from the main argument. This is often used rhetorically to deflect criticism and avoid accountability

Mentioned in the video that Modi had Kejriwal arrested (which is done on legal grounds) but fails to notice how Biden government is running a witch-hunt on Trump.

Houses built on illegal land belong to Muslims so demolishing them is Islamophobic. But Biden sanctioning billions of dollars worth of weapons to Israel so that they can carpet bomb entirety of Gaza is okay. F***ing hypocrites.

Your comments seem filled with anger, which is concerning. That's what hate and hero-worship does to people

I hope you find peace and well-being soon

I don't worship anybody apart from my God. I stated facts. Your leftist-islamist axis hated and subdued hindus since independence. Now, you'll call us bigoted/hateful/etc for saying the truth about you. Seems like you have

Well he omitted facts and spread lies.
Ram Mandir was built using donations, not taxpayers’ money.
Ram Mandir was reclaimed after 500 years and not built on Masjid as it was the Masjid built on Ram Mandir.
It’s obviously deracinated Hindus and Hindu-haters wrote his script and provided the ‘facts’.
Though, I do not support censorship. Our government lacks intellectual heft to answer back using the correct facts.

The government should counter criticisms with 'facts' if necessary, rather than banning them. Labeling opposing viewpoints as lies and prohibiting them is simply cowardly

Yes agreed.

Seems like a publicity stunt. He has done too many of those to keep count.

And there is a lot of hypocrisy with this one. Kind of russell conjugation.

You may disagree with his viewpoints. Should this and other such viewpoints be banned?

JazzyMuffin
JazzyMuffin

Yes. Your gang has literally physically attacked youtubers and deleted entire channels from youtube just for exposing these vile hatemongerers like Dhruv Rathee. This is the mildest reaction you can get.

I feel the freedom of the press is being controlled. All viewpoints and sources should be available and the public should be allowed to form its own opinion in the end. Freedom of press is a pillar of democracy

Indeed. Thanks for sharing the link!

The same link wasn't working before and it used to say "This video isn't available in your country". Glad to see this one being unblocked unlike many!

Ohh really?? How many billions pushed into India for this election by deep state through hawala?where did it go? It went to left wing media and opposition...no wonder why they stayed intact until the end. Media had least restrictions in India.try China or Pakistan or even US if you want.

It's crazy to see re tard indians go nuts if a video is taken down of a foreigner trying to mock the PM. I mean he is our PM you can't change that, he represents india on a global level have some respect (personally i hate him too) but it is what it is. There's no media censorship in india.
