Background Verification
What all backgrounds checks are done by a firm on an employee before joining them ?
What is background verification ? How it is done if a person worked for multiple companies how do they verify this?
HRs of GV have been the least helpful, same as in real life.
I have never seen any HR giving useful input on any post.
Depends up to what you want to uncover in your verification.
Part 1 is basic where they verify your credentials such as PAN, Aadhar, home address etc.
Part 2 is where they verify your employment dates with your previous organisations and any official inputs regarding your tenure there.
Part 3 is where they gather information about your professional capability and conduct by speaking to your previous employers - discreetly and with your knowledge.
Part 4 is where they verify your financial information by asking you to share your bank account statements and form 16.
Part 5 is where they do police verification - if they are hiring you for the role that requires such level of clearance.
All can be done either by HR else can be outsourced to agencies similar to recruitment.
Generally companies do part 1 and part 3. In case they have a doubt in your candidacy- then they go for part 2 and 4.
Part 5 is highly specific to the nature of the job.
BGV is subjective and depends on internal company policy. There have been instances of layoff when companies did this exercise and found the details incorrect as stated by the employee in his resume/comp details.
