Is Meesho even hiring PMs?
There have been so many openings lately and I have applied to a bunch with product team referrals but haven't heard from them even once.
(Ex-Unicorn PM with 2.5+ yrs experience applying for PM - 1 / APM -2 roles)
I am done with Meesho. The work is great but the reward structure has become shit. The leadership has become hypocrite over the years and if this goes on then soon most of the talent would leave this super high density talent company.
Feeling betrayed post the layoffs and the promo cycle, I am looking for new product opportunities, please help if there are any openings at your organisation 🤕
Brah bahar thoda zyada fucked hai. Don't rush - especially since you're saying the work is good. On comp - everyone is using the recession as money saving tactics. Unless a great offer comes, don't scoot.
Yeah understand that but can’t survive in this toxic work culture with unrealistic expectations and having to work 10-11 hours a day. Feels like consulting all again 🥲
10-11 hours isn’t that bad
How does pay at Meesho compare vs Consulting for you?
Every startup becomes hypocrite the larger they grow
What’s your experience been like ?
Ha. Ha. Start Up pe joke yaad aa gaya.
One StartUp Employee = Visionary
Two StartUp Employees = Political Party
Three StartUp Employees = Team
Four StartUp Employees = Two Political Parties
Bro when start-up becomes large it's not a start-up, it's an organization. Problem yeh hai ki aadeh se jayada jokers ne organization mein kaam hi nahi kiya hai.
I hope you are not on the seller side product. One of the shittiest I have come across.
Can you elaborate on what you work on the engagement front? And also, why the expectations may be unrealistic?
Yeah so we majorly on optimising for App Open Frequency through engagement levers like community, games, social discovery etc.
Expectations are unrealistic because we have a IPO deadline and everything is being backtracked from there which puts a lot of pressure on teams to achieve a certain target
I don’t think you should leave at this point. Meesho is the best ship right now compared to any other startups out there. There is grind for next 1-1.5 year but that is what bring all the perks and the learnings. 10-11 hour is nothing if work is great.
Also, if you don’t want to do it - startup is probably not a good option for you. Rather join FAANG where money and WLB - both are good.
In startups - you hardly get both (unless it is already profitable or doomed for failure)
Was there at Meesho and was out in the recent layoffs but still thing it is the best place of work. Have been in touch with lots of startup folks - I still can’t find any startup/product matching Meesho level.
What were you working on? And which vertical -biz/prod?
Was in tech. Worked very closely with product folks. I know things became shaky in engagement team recently but new leadership team is great there. You will need to keep at it.
You hardly get opportunity to rebuild an area like engagement. It is literally a big opportunity to revamp community and apply all those things which you learn in Hooked Book. It is very rare.

Meesho will be firing 251 employees this week. I have many batchmates in this org and have heard nothing but good about this company.
Sad to see this economy claiming another victim in the form of Meesho.
In brief- Very ambiguously choosen. Multiple reasons at play so far it looks - primarily cost, other one is trying to flatten the hierarchy quite implicit, cutting roles of pure people management & no ground impact at all, etc AMA
