Future GPT is to Coding what AlphaZero is to Chess

Humans mind are not trained to understand exponential nature of any trend.... Currently people are mocking AI because current models are not that good. However people are unable to see the double exponential trend with which AI is improving without any slowing down of scaling laws...Ray Kurzweil was indeed right! Hence it would be more prudent to plan a career path not by keeping capabilities of current models of AI in mind but by understanding how capable AI models would become in 2-3 years.

Let’s say If, A big if, AI becomes self sufficient to do the job of a backend developer, like it’s able to write basic crud apps, simple system design stuff it can do and slowly it keeps getting better at debugging and stuff. (It should not need debugging tho) What can I as a backend developer do, to keep myself relevant in the market and always be able to find a new job?

Looks like our world is about to end, GPT can write better code in any language then a human. Can write spark, sql, react apps with unit testing and can cover more edge cases then humans can ever think of. openAI ftw

Content and marketing folks are pretty much using ChatGPT all the time now. Wondering if coders and operation folks are also using it for work or not. I've started trying long form content generation where tokens are spent repeatedly until the task is complete using code interpreter. Maybe autogpt would be better suited for in depth work. Anyone here using autogpt by any chance?

To all the devs (working professionals and students), how much do you rely on ChatGPT for your code? Do you explicitly use it to generate code logic, or only use it for debugging? Plus, do you think that the newer generation of students might miss out on the essence of programming with the advent of ChatGPT?

AI is unlike any other past technology revolution. It is going to make cost of intelligence trending toward zero. Going by exponential curve of AI growth, in next 3-4 years, we are going to have an AI model which can code better than 95% of coders... Deep mind already has model Alphacode which can code better than 50% of competitive coders. People are living in fool's paradise by thinking that AI will create massive amount of job.... It won't because it will make cost of intelligence near to zero making coding, analyst, consultant, product management job redundant.... What takes 100 coders to build a product won't take more 10 coders in few years from now...

It shows a lot of possibilities for sure. But do you see its capabilities causing negative outcomes?

I've been using GPT to do any task I pick up- write code, generating UI palettes, create and check legal docs, writing product copies etc. GPT-4 has aced all tests. Recently diagnoed a dog with an ailment better than vets. As a result, The only skill I feel like getting better at now is asking GPT questions. I don't see the point in learning anything new if it's all becoming redundant with generative AI. Anyone else who's in the same boat here?
