no, coding will be not replaced in the level of mathmatians and scientists, deep coding level.. yes it's going to replace common code that 60% of the world is doing. rest will be paid insane amount.. and also imagine how powerful one hacker would be if majority no one knew coding

Honestly. Every time a new revolutionary technology has been invented people have feared that it will take away all the jobs and make them useless. But the truth is technology always leads to higher economic output . Jobs become redundant but new jobs are discovered too. And i BET , that AI is going to make the talented and constantly learning tech guy the most powerful person. Some tech guys will be able to generate so much economic output that they will become this class of the “New Rich” and establish new companies in new domains that will be created as AI affects society more and more.

Coding by humans might be dead but engineering won't be. Coding is part of engineering but not engineering itself. So those who have problem solving skills (understanding systems and implementing effective & optimised solutions) have nothing to worry about.

I think many tools are low code platforms now, so basically we are using tools rather than coding.

Although the giant TSMC announced a breakthrough of 1nm technology in 2021, that is not yet possible to develop on a commercial scale because of the error rate being too high. Even 3nm chips production was planned to be started by 2022 Q3, but I haven't seen the news that it has started yet. So take that with a grain of salt. There is no doubt that AI is going to grow beyond what we have seen today, but not to the point that kids shouldn't learn coding.

These are my thoughts. Coding might be dead soon, but software engineering won't. Software engineering requires understanding what projects to execute, so as to generate business outcomes. Most of the projects will involve analysis, requirements gathering the whole nine yards. ( There might be tools to automate these aspects too, but they work up to a certain scale, beyond this you'll need human intervention). Few aspects of the entire software development pipeline will get replaced by AI making teams leaner.

The current wave has plateaued at 4.5. Sama needs trillions to scale it up from here. I’m just saying since you foresee the jump to 8.0 so easily.

Imagine a king without crown , crown is an AI, we are kings. The more you know about AI , you’ll wrote more optimised code. I went through Gemini, GPT, perplexity etc and found I can’t copy pasta output code on my projects which was running from decade. Even for some question the answer was not satisfactory I need to gave hint to models for satisfactory outputs. The one great use of AI , I found in our D2D engineers life that we don’t need to re code whole things due to redesigning. And code review is not a hassle now if integrate with copilot. Let’s where it’ll take us

I feel it is going to make specialised developers (like only frontend or backend) irrelevant. Apart from this, it is going to make development quicker.
