MNIT Jaipur metallurgy engineering

Hi Folks, I am seeking advice as a father of a class 12 student, can you all recommend few engineering colleges besides the IIT, Bits, DTU, VIT which have good placement, infrastructure and faculty. Could engineers who have graduated in 2017/2018 or HR folks comment with their experience in the job market Thanks

Folks, need advice. My son has got admits in Manipal, Mechanical branch and MIT WPU, Pune Mechanical with Robotics. He is keen on a Career in software. Has been programming since 11th grade. What advice would you give him to move to software? And any feedback on colleges ?

This year arround more than 14 lakhs appeared for Jee out of these only 17-18 thousand will get IITS and remaining top 30 thousand students will join Nits/IIITs/Bits and state GECs but remaining students will join random engineering,competition is increased pretty much and I'm pretty sure had the half of these 14 lakhs student be from well off families, they would look for options abroad, competition is getting extremely unhealthy nowadays bczz even students who are gonna get chemical , mechanical, civil kind of branches in top tier colleges are also gonna target product/analytics/consulting/finance kind of roles or go for MBA via cat at top IIMs/abroad /UPSC /starting up at the end of their engineering which doesn't make any sense to me . It doesn't mean that students who got less percentile are less intelligent but mistakes of 5-8 marks in these exams affect your rank by 1000s . And this thing is gonna worse in near future with ever increasing population of our country

My nephew has both these options (and IITD/B Mech,etc) to choose from . From the perspective of career growth, which one is better. Consider all factors like prospects in CS, institute brand, etc that help in building a career.

Are MCAs in general worth it after BCA? Specifically are MCAs from NITs worth it? Do they get same packages as that of CSE students? What is the average MCA package at NITs? I currently have a job (>1 yr industry exp) I am learning a lot on the job (tech and non-tech). My TL and managers are happy w me in general. I'm also learning other stuff (MERN stack) at the moment. I've been contemplating about this for a while. I. Factors that personally discourage me from pursuing an MCA: a. MCA is usually 2 years (3 years at NITs) b. Syllabus is more or less the same when compared to BCA. A few extra courses/electives maybe added. c. Opportunity cost - I will be missing out on 2 or 3 years of salaried income. d. How would the ROI (return on investment) look like? f. I'll have to prepare for entrance exams (NITs) along with my job. e. I may be able to match college placement packages by being in the industry for 2-3 years. Afaik average package is 4-8 LPA after MCA at non-NIT colleges. II. Factors that make me want to pursue an MCA: a. My extended family and relatives will shut up. (No pressure as such from my parents) b. Might look good on resume to future employers. c. I may not be able to match the college placement packages despite being in the industry for 2-3 years (depends on my personal commitment to skilling up and the market ofc) Any inputs would highly be appreciated and would help me analyse better! IITians always have a headstart in most of the things , be it interviews , be it asking for funds from VCs , be it meeting with board of any company to present their ideas and much more . I wanted to ask one thing that if you are even a metallurgy student in BTech at IIT BOMBAY then you will be able to land roles in consulting, IBs , product, growth but is the situation same for mtech students at IITs who are planning to puruse their masters , will they have same value

Graduated in 2022. Working in the telecom software domain. I want to have the college experience again (COVID destroyed mine) and hoping get a salary jump as well. How are the courses and peers in the CSE department in these institutes? Is it worth preparing for GATE and leaving my job to join these institutes? Or is it better to skill up and switch?
