I have received an offer from Walmart recently. I have 0 yoe and currently in my final year in a tier-1 college (IIT).
Base: 16 lpa (approx) Joining bonus: 3.25 lpa Stocks: 2.25 lpa (RSUs)
Is this a good salary as compared to what other companies give to SDE freshers from IITs? Please share your thoughts. Thank you.
Is this a good salary: Absolutely yes. You will be earning well above million of software developers.
Is this the highest: No, it's not. If I'm not wrong, Blinkit offers a base of 30 LPA and Rippling offers a base of 36 LPA for freshers. There will be a ton of companies offering more salary for freshers, without involving those working quant field.
But most of them are super inflated. At Walmart you will have a relatively good WLB, interesting work, and more job safety (hopefully). Their finances are really good, at least as of now. They're the only retailer which blew away the earnings expectations by the market analysts last year.
It's decent. Not too low but not too high either.
Unicorns and top product companies offer higher than this.
Wonder if those will sustain post the correction of valuation and rationalization of salaries. Good times are over.

It's high and bcz of the market conditions u will be on the verge to getting ur offer revoked or laidoff So keep a check before joining

What is gonna be my in hand salary for the first year? Second year? And then on?
I have HR round scheduled with Walmart today for SDE3 Role. What's the recommended fixed pay + variable to ask? YOE : 4 CURRENT CTC : 17.8L fixed + 1.3l bonus. I heard they are lowballing these days so any help would be highly appreciated!
Got 14yrs experience. I saw some reviews regarding less variable payout by tcs for higher bands. And, they reduce the salaries sometimes. Please share your thoughts and experiences for making the right decision
