It seems unfair to me and others like me who are trying to get into the industry. People who are in the industry very well know that they didn't get an entry because they did some Jony Ive-level work. The majority of them simply got lucky in 2021. Now everyone wants superheroes in the name of product design. I wish I was doing the same job search in 2021, things would have been different.
99% of the designers you see on social media or giving mentorship have no real industry experience and are just waiting for their influencer career to take off.
Real design work involves a lot of grind, work, feedback, reviews, driving change in the company/team. And all these influencers talk about is UI design which is honestly 10% of the work.

I get it, I guess it's time to consider roles that are considering juniors, or at least give a chance to them.
Thr reality is most people got lucky ,there was too much funding,now there is no funding and bootcamps are pumping out Designers,. The only people who have privilege are the one who went to top end design school to get filtered out,but they never agree to that privileges that they have and brag u don't need design dgree.
The worst thing about portfolios are everyone have different taste,some don't like dark theme,some hate dark theme, some like detail process,some want simple.
The whole thing is a message and most people are Just trying to squeez out money from juniors who are desperate to get into industry bragging of mentorship and all.
What mentorship can 1 years experience people give.
Truth is nobody actually knows what actually works,all just giving generic or personal things that worked out for them.

I feel ya. Lots of average designers hired during 2020-21 are being way overpaid honestly. Makes it difficult for the rest of us who weren't hired during that time to get well paying jobs now.

Field is saturated and you will seriously struggle to find work. Not gate keeping, just laying out the reality. If you're up for the challenge then good, if not then you should look at some other fields.
