After this all college guy diversity hiring e-lafda. I got the importance of pseudonymous platforms like Grapevine where we can rant out our opinions without getting canceled. By the way what do you think on this diversity hiring thing it was pretty same as ranting about reservations which mostly people do.
Diversity hiring is to fix a prevailing issue. The workforce got so male dominated, and it needs to be fixed. The female to male ratio is very low. Even the products would end up being curated that way (just like how most of the items are catered for right handed folks and not left handed folks).
When we are doing something, there will be some side effects, more of like collateral damage. But it's also more of like a necessary evil (although diversity hiring is not evil - used the term to set the context).
If you feel that those who are getting hired now is not good enough (almost all of them are good), they will get better soon. Or help them get better. At the end, the competition wouldn't have been this high if men themselves didn't made it this competitive.
Had there been equal representation of men and women in workforce, this approach wouldn't have happened. Or there should have been less men in the workforce so that men would get similar programs as well.
It's already very difficult for women to be in the workforce, or even to get the job. So, let's just support the program and support more women to take them up as well.
Note: although intended for good, there's a problem with it. It's the same people that would get selected in most of the programs. And this takes away the chance from those who deserves it. So, we should spread more information about these opportunities.
At the end, if someone's problem is with women being in the workforce, then I've nothing to tell them except to hope that they will understand everything, someday, and change their mindset.
Tbh I agree with you but sometimes undercompetant people get something because of some previlege and then give gyan to others and get some reach/publicity then some people who think themselves as more deserving gets triggered and call them out. What do you think about this as I have observed some women Influencers who dont know shit some are freshers or even interns (again talking about some). Dont you think these influencers doing harm to women only as being the wrong role models ?
We're humans, and we often mistakes. Mistakes doesn't have to be something wrong, but something not right either.
When I wrote the above comment, I wanted to call it out as well. But at the end of the day, it does serve a purpose of promoting such opportunities to those who really need it.
They had a good opportunity to get a job, and they used it. There's no wrong in sharing that with others. Because, it was legit opportunity. Had it been something similar to nepotism (like friends pulling in their friends not on the basis of merit), that's wrong.
And trust me, there are more men influencers being wrong role models out there, than the female ones you're referring to.
And this whole time, the entire hiring process has more of like been a diversity hiring for men as well. When more people come into the picture, people will get more competitive, and get better as well.
People rant and get cancelled too, just that in Grapevine we don't know who.
And these rants about reservations (any kind) won't take the person any far (if you can change, you'll follow a route), but can take someone back (like in this case).
Best way to put these rants is to cover up in satire. There's a very thin line between freedom of speech and abusing
Hmm makes sense but I am just curious what if a women had tweeted something like this ? For example someone said "Men fail interviews then rant about diversity hiring" aint it the same generalizing and down showing / insulting to overpower your opinion / bias.
The key is virality. An Apple (female) employee wrote about their senior management's mismanagement, racism and discrimination against women - shown the door. Hope she got a good position after being blacklisted by Apple
It is not about men and women; it is about power. Someone on payroll is still below the company they work for.
I don't think we should have any problem with diversity hiring, it's just stop gap solution, will eventually fade out when there's enough women applying for tech jobs in India.
Did caste reservation fade out? The less meritocracy there is,the easier it will be for dumber people to thrive. Then, they can push stupid agendas without any rebellion
Diversity hiring isn't exclusive to merit, 1 job k lie 5000 girls application me bhi top wali ko hi lenge.
Does airlines have female quota for pilots? Or do hospitality industry have female quota?
Unlike govt, core objective of any company is to make profit, they'll optimise for that.
Koi batayega kiski baat ho rhi hai? Was offline the whole weekend and this is all people seem to be talking about ðŸ˜
There is a Poll here asking Yes/No supporting the diversity hiring programs of organisations. This post seems to be about that. And clearly, as implied in this post, it must be all the newly hired fresh grads, or College guys who must be ranting against diversity hiring. Most experienced folks will agree that Diversity hiring is a good and necessary aspect. It needs maturity to understand that.
I don't even know why there is a need for this discussion. If their board and management wants diversity hiring they'll do it. There's nothing employees can do about this scheme. No industry is completely merit based. One exception would be medicine. Even without diversity hiring there'll still be biases. Look at how Telgus dominate the tech industry. They always prefer their own. So I'm fine with a little D&I.

Title. I want to know the opinions of both men and women regarding this of why they are for or against diversity hiring.
I am from a Tier 1 college and we've our placement season going on. A lot of companies are visiting our campus and we noticed companies are recruiting more girls than boys. Even though they are less skilled. I am not against their empowe...
