Do you think Groww will win broker race surpassing Zerodha?

I believe Groww is more user-friendly for new users, especially considering the 25% year-over-year growth in Demat account openings

6 years back I had to send a chunck of signed docs to Zerodha to open my demat account along with registration fees. Groww and modern day apps on the other hand make it so simple and quick.

If I'm not wrong Zerodha was the first company to introduce digital KYC. That gave them a huge edge

Maybe the did, but they used to charge registration fees to open demat account and yearly renewal fees too. They only stopped doing it after the entry to modern day startups.

No, not right away. Groww is mostly working with New to market customers who aren’t money makers for brokers. Zerodha otoh has clients who place 15-20 orders a day. Getting people put money in mutual fund sip doesn’t make money for the broker. Which is why they’re miles apart when it comes to profits.

Groww will win if they can price it more aggressively

In terms of users, Groww will lead the pack for a while but like someone pointed out, they focus on new traders that doesn’t really make them money. While Zerodha focuses on high frequency traders from where they can earn revenue. Maybe Groww will figure out how to make more revenue over time. Another thing- Angel One is setting aside a huge marketing budget to go behind the new traders segment and wants to overtake Groww as the largest number of demat accounts opened
