Does employees get salary growth with as startup grows?

I have been working as engineering manager in a startup. I was promised remote job but now company calling to office location. In current year, the company didnt give more then 5% salary growth and keep promising growth in the future as company grows but do founders or top management really care about employees?

I seen one of my ex company its happening but not sure if founders really keep their promises about employees will get salary growth as company grows. I feel they take lavish salary but keep the employees underpaid.

Let me know your thoughts or your own experience. Work life balance is good though so I don’t want to really leave the company it actually it happens

Okay so you are officially in your comfort zone if you don't wanna leave your company even after giving you a negligible hike.

Find out your market average and if they are able to match it, look for another high growth company where you'll be valued and compensated fairly.

But my question is do startup really compensate in the future for staying with company for long? Do they keep their promise or its just a game to keep your employees underpaid?

It depends on the founders bro. If they are good people, they'll pay you. I was lucky in my previous company and received a lot of hikes and promotions. But I also asked for it repeatedly.

If you don't ask, you won't get it.

But at the same it's very rare. Most founders/companies don't do it. They just do annual hikes and that too not much.

So for most people, the best thing to do is to switch regularly.

you should really ask for a hike if you feel like you are being paid less than market salary, if they say no or dont keep up any promises they made, start applying, also founders dont get paid that much, most of their compensation is in stock that is vesting every year. if company goes to 0 then it sucks to be a founder
