What do people do in the notice period?

Can we deny working on new stuff in notice period and just focus on KTs ? Or are we bound to work on whatever is thrown at you while serving notice. I am going to decline new work, what implications it can have?

Hey guys, I'm on notice period and I left my job because of the bad conditions and unhelpful team and messed up mental health. I have 2 months notice which started 3rd july I wanted to know can the company do anything if my performance in notice period is bad. Basically if I get the work, I'll try to deliver but 8 won't be messing up my mental health if I'm not able to deliver. I plan to simply say that, sorry i tried but I'm not able to figure it out. If someone helps me its fine and if not then I'll continue to say it. Can the company do anything if I keep a good behaviour and not deliver tasks.

What's the most productive way to spend your notice period. What all would you do to get the best out of it ?

Hi Everyone, Saying from personal experience, I have noticed that 10/10 times I am getting rejected if I say notice period to be 90 days during a Job Switch. All companies are looking for 30/60 days joiners. Even though they themselves have 90 days notice period in their organisation. But let us say if you say to HR that my notice period is 60 days and then get selected, how to manage? How to securely transition from one organisation to another. How to negotiate the notice period effectively?

In my company I am handling a complex project single handedly for last 2 years. My manager promised me promotion and good rating this cycle, but as it has come, nor was I given promotion nor good rating. I was really upset and told that to manager. manager tried to explain me that he really fought very hard and he had nothing else to do. Now he is literally asking me everyday for kt on the project I have been handling and asking me to take session for other teammates on the project so that they can also help me if needed. I am smelling something fishy here. What do you think I should do ??

I had given my resignation from my position and was told my last working day will be the next day itself. I had told the HR that I'm ready to serve entire notice period of 2 months but requested them to reduce my notice period as there wasn't much dependency on me. I was hoping the notice period will be for atleast 1 month but they had me leave the next day itself. When they told me next day will be my last day I had told them I'm ready to serve 2 months of notice period but still they let me go the next day. Is it proper or am I missing anything ?

Do I need to put extra hours into my work when I am on notice period? I have resigned and it has been a month but still I am getting the same amount of work as a regular one? When transitioning from a job where the notice period ended early due to fewer dependencies and positive relations with my manager, and with the next joining date 15-20 days away, what steps should I take? And what do you guys do in this time 🧐 does it causes fear ki lege ya nhi 🤣

I am highly annoyed by double standards and hypocritic behavior of companies while hiring for Notice period. Almost every company wants immediate joining or asap joining and they will definitely ask or encourage you to negotiate notice period, etc. However they themselves would not have allowed a single employee to leave early or waive off notice period. I sometimes feel to ask them, that i am sure the employee who's replacement or position i am being hired for would have also asked to waive off notice period, did you allow him/her? If no, then why do you expect another employer would do something different. I mean, my current employer asked me to negotiate notice period when i was leaving my previous organization, now if tomorrow i resign, i know they won't waive off a single day. If anyone else have good experiences, answers around the same. Please do share.
