EPF, NPS are good for long term?

I'm thinking to increase my EPF contribution to the max which is 12% of basic and also thinking to start NPS investment.

since I am just starting out in personal investment domain. I do not possess much knowledge and have been seeing people here helping others.

My question is should I increase the EPF contribution and start NPS or should I invest in public funds after thorough study?

The first one are from the govt so seems safe to me. Again I'm not fully aware about investment.

Thank you in advance for everyone who'll pitch in their opinion!

The employer's contribution is not taxable in both cases. If you take that arbitrage with the difference in return of epf vs mfs it's almost the same. nps employer's contribution is excluded from tax in both new and old regime. But when you change organisations they may not support NPS
