The issue is not about competition. It’s clearly an HR issue. First it mattered what college you went to as a proxy for quality, then what courses you have done, and then github. Now it’s open source contributions. These PRs fool hr into shortlisting them and might fool Some devs too 🤷♂️
Hiring pipeline is never fixed. Too many people want a job they don’t have skills for, and instead of upskilljng they choose to game the system. We talk about poor tech candidates, probably the right time we talk about recruiters who suck at their job
