Why is it so hard to leave first company?
I joined TCS 3yrs ago and since then I couldn't switch. I am planning since last year March but actually not able to work on it. Even I couldn't apply actively. Currently I am involved in a role which has nothing to do with development and I feel bit less confident. So I want to know why it is so hard to leave? Does everyone feel same? Is this ecosystem somewhat responsible for this?
6 YOE joining 5th company next month.
Never let a retard shame you for job hopping.
Job hopping is one of the fewest ways to attain some economic mobility in this shithole country.
For a corporation understand that you're a fungible resource. They'll throw you under the bus once you've outlived their utility. Always lookout for your own personal interest first.

There's literally shit on every street with open manholes in every city. Technically accurate 😂

I feel the same
Reasons
1. I'm not sure abt opportunities outside
2. Didn't learn anything completely, completed the task never learnt anything abt it
3. My work depends one software which is closed source difficult to learn from outside
Not to be harsh, but excuses in each point. You gotta do this for yourself!

Those are not anyway aligned with your question bro that's why I have avoided it in the first place.
My take; yes the ecosystem is 'somewhat' responsible for sure, but you are your own responsibility! Play wisely.
Am not asking to go haywire and job hopping like crazy but should be calculated risks at least in initial years by the time you cross 35, you won't have any energy/ wish / fire to do so!
So?? do while you can. ✊🏽

The reason is you don’t want to be out of your comfort zone. People are able to switch companies just ask yourself why you can’t.
2YOE. Java, JavaScript, TypeScript, React, HTML/CSS lots of AWS exposure too.

Get an offer from someplace considered slightly above WITCH tier, one with tonnes of employees. They usually are okay with 3 months, then within that timeframe get more offers as you’re approaching the end.

3 yrs experience here also. I know it's very hard. I kept losing confidence everyday as I am in support project. I have been contemplating resigning since December 2022. Last year in December I decided to resign. Started to look for a new job but due to NP couldn't land many interviews. Every week thought of resigning. Said to myself that I will resign today, then next day the same thing. Gathered courage and resigned last month without any offer. Felt a bit of regret at the starting but now I feel light as a feather. Hopeful for future and thankful to myself for taking this step.
I've switched my first company after 4 years. The thing is, you've to come out of your comfort zone and do anything (be it coding / preparation) consistently because consistency is the key.
You'll never be 100% prepared for an interview so keep preparing and once you feel confident, just start giving interviews. You'll succeed 🙋♂️

It's just a comfort zone and leaving it may make it really difficult .
You need to figure out the motivation, it may be working on new tech or meeting new people or wanting to do masters or go onsite and focus on that ...
Anyways , you would require to need to put some effort for interview prep , anyways that comes after you applying , so start applying , and when you start getting calls you can start preparing !!!

Us bro us. Never thought switching would be this hard
I have already spent 3.5 years in my first but now preparing for the switch because initially joined for stack which I didn’t wanted but got too comfortable here. Lads whenever you feel like “ye toh koi bhi karsakta hai i should do something more” its time for switch
I spent a decade in my first company. Had seen lot of ups and downs. Formed life long friendships. Imbibed the DNA of org. I believe it’s because of the novelty and the comfort I was made it hard for me to leave. If hadn’t for the money I would have remained there.
Comfort might be the reason , but really need to get out from it. Seems difficult at first place. But believe me im trying too and trying hard.
Witch is a very difficult place to be in. Its like wet soil, the more you stay the more difficulty to switch to product based. The thing is Faang guys will never allow you to pass the Interview if you are cominng from Wicth and worked there for more than 3+ years unless you are really Good. NO hiring manager at Faang wants a Witch employee. I know its harsh but its the SAD TRUTH 😤
Didn't feel bad at all. The pay was bad and one of my many managers once demanded that I cancel my vacation plans 1 week prior so that I don't miss a meeting where I had to sing his praises to leadership. Scrum master was constantly looking for excuses to verbally abuse devs and testers. Work was only to fix bugs introduced by other contractors. Had to attend loooong meetings for no apparent reason. No thanks.
R u from a rich family member...
Bro company is not life at the end of the day your family and money is important ....
1.if your feeling friendship bonding -- that can be done out with the same people
2. Don't setback with same technology - Lear something and apply for it..
3.ServiceNow has ample of jobs, if you know JavaScript CSS, html with ITSM, ITAM ITOM module you get job..
4.focus your learning and development with good technology like AI mechine learning...etc
I have a question for folks says 5 yrs 5 company changes etc. Don't you think it's riskier in the current layoff scenario. Did you ever felt a layoff fear recently?
