Corporate Job vs Govt Job
I’m a software developer with 2 years of experience earning 1.6L per month. Should I invest 2-3 years in UPSC preparation for a fresh IAS position or advance to an SDE 3 role in the corporate sector? Considering the potential for better income, less pressure, and job mobility in corporate roles versus job security, pride, and potential moral conflicts in government roles,.Now I’ve had experience in corporate settings but don’t know anything about the first-class government job to compare with. Almost everyone might have faced this dilemma while working in the corporate world. Please help me understand the views that I might be missing.
Agree on better income but less pressure and job mobility naah...with more VC cutting short on funding many startups are trying to run a lean team while maximizing efficiency and focusing on profitability so days are long gone for all those less pressure and WLB
Actually, I have a good WLB. There is some pressure, but not as much as a first-class government job.
Govt jobs has least amount of mobility. State cadres are fixed, IAS officers are thrown to remote areas at the whims of MLAs.
Better income only if allow yourself to indulge in corruption.
Job security - Yes, unless until u make some huge disaster
Pride - oh yes, that’s the only thing which is infinitely high against a software dev job.
I have the same dilemma but my family pushing me to move abroad. So I think corporate is the better choice
Corporate world: "Sky's the limit" with smart work. IAS: "Desh ki sewa" with hard work. Decisions, decisions! Jai Hind.
