Guide me , on saving some tax

I recently got an offer for which I need to move to another city. Previously I was working wfh. So I was paying rent to my parents. Now If i move to new city will it be possible to still claim hra by paying rent to my parents. What I am thinking is i would show my rent as 40k -50k (to parents in different city) and stay in pg maybe upto 10k. So I would end up saving some tax. Only reason I think this may work is i believe there is no way income tax can tell whether I am doing wfh or wfo or maybe I am traveling across different cities everyday how would they know it. Please let me know if anyone tried this ? Or i am being too greedy Just for context :- I am not very experienced

Agreed. But What I think is why should he/she have a problem. I am following everything which is mentioned related to HRA. And also AFAIk. they took our recipts and all and deduct tax based on our exemptions. At the end it is me, who will fill the ITR. So in that I will show my home rent recipts. Maybe some HR can confirm how these things work.

I have not tried this, but as you said, no way to know whether you are doing wfo or wfh. Can try. Save your money. Don't let lazy people and corrupt people use your money
