How can I switch to IT from non IT background after 15 years experience ;)

Hey IT industry champs ;)

I have 15 years of Sales and Marketing/Product development and management experience in the BFSI/Fintech domain and want to move to the IT industry.

Educational background: BCom(H) MBA(Finance/Marketing).

(Not from the Top 20 MBA colleges)

I am open to learning new skills including Coding languages/Tools ,and if you know someone who has successfully moved from non-IT to IT industry after more than a decade of work by upskilling themselves then please throw in an example.

Looking for some encouraging inputs :)

That's doable. I've seen a lot of people do it. I've even seen some oldies ~50s do it.

If you have sales experience, why do you want to get into coding? Why not IT sales? Margins are great!

I would love to learn coding as I am interested in it....but since I don't have IT sales background, finding it tough to come across an opportunity

In that case, you can try coding bootcamps like Newtonschool or Scaler academy. They offer coding courses and only get paid when you get a job, which they help you get.

Downside would be that your earnings would take a hit. Since you'd be completely new to the field HRs everywhere will try to low ball you.

If you perform well at the interviews, you might get a product company that pays decent.

Be ready to explain almost every one why you want to switch after 15 years of sales experience, and love for code doesn't really cut it as a reason in India. Just a heads-up.

i’m not that experience to tell about any specific domain. But you can look into cloud and AWS Solution Architect certificate or similar certification in AZURE and GCP. My one relative from MBA background did that and got a role with decent pay.
