Has anyone successfully made friends as an adult?
Not coworkers, but otherwise. Life's hard, sucks most of the time but I feel it would suck a little less if I had some real friends probably. Looking for ideas.
In the first place, adult friendships made in office seem so superficial to me. You spend so much of your time with them, you mistake proximity for compatibility.
I've made only two friends who I consider true friends here in 2 years, but only one of them considers me a true friend back. The other lady leans on me as an emotional crutch, but will hopefully forget about me when her life gets on track.
Touching grass, meeting people and all is fine, but how do people connect?
Moving from a academic setting to a professional setting in a completely new city has been very challenging. The social protocols are different. Many adults are hurt, and stressed and don't allow friends to come close.
Maybe I am painting the entire world in the colour my eyes see, but I really want to hear your stories!
Also temper expectations. School / hometown friendships are different from adult friendships. You may or may not find a 4am friend but you can build multiple circles. Gym / workout buddies, foodie circle, book club, travel friends etc etc
Adult friendships are all about finding micro circles
True, I don't mind having segregated circles. But the fact that I can't talk about whatever interests me with anyone, or what I am going through, or that I have only one friend to explore the city with gets depressing sometimes.
You don’t. True friends are made only in College/School times, that too if you have lived in Hostels with them.
Lmao, thats not true. I've seen people make true friends in office too. I am sure hobby groups ya some regular meetup groups or something would enable you to make true friends too.
can you dm boss even me the same case lets chat and be friends
What city do you stay in?
Join any sports, it's one of the best ways to make new friends
Yes. I've joined football and Badminton. But everyone there is an adult. And I am rather quiet person, so that idea was a bust.
Bro if you're outspoken, confident and able to talk easily you can make friends anywhere anytime. I'm not like that and i feel this is why it's difficult for me.

What are your thoughts on making friends at work? I don’t just mean acquaintances, like deep, intimate friendships. When I started off I was given an advice to never make relationships at work be more deeper than it should be. 4 years l...
I have been here in Bangalore for over a year now. Hardly made any good friends. Have explored meetups and events but I feel super bored and lonely on weekends
Most of us on Grapevine, working in corporate sector might make decent chunk of money if we keep grinding for a decade or two but very few of us would have the social capital (or as they say “networking” in our corporate jargon). Increa...

I mean how do you start trusting people again?
Most of the people that I have around me turned out to be an ass. I could never fill the social void. My heart keeps yearning for social validation (I am not in the mood of hearing that ha...
