Strictly speaking, you’re not signing a contract with Topmate for delivery. So, it doesn’t come under the gambit of moonlighting.

When you’re freelancing, there is almost always a contract, which most companies might consider moonlighting.

But if you read your company policy, they can easily twist it against you and say Topmate is moonlighting! The wording is intentionally vague :D

Is income from Topmate considered as income from business?

It’s just Income from Other Sources I think. You can also show it under 44ADA as a freelance income.

But someone more knowledgeable should be able to help.

For TopMate you aren't building things for a company which may be your current employer's competitor.

Also the time required is lesser and can be managed by a person having full time job, while a part-time/freelancing opportunity comes with the possibility of a person prioritising that over their current full time job.

That's why companies are okay with it.

So my friend moonlights, does two jobs. My friend was wondering if one jobs income can be shown as business income? Or does that need some other contract? Does anyone know?
