how much short tenure is too bad?

Been in this company for about 8 months. Company is great but there’s just this team that works on all the important things that’s absolutely hard to keep up with. They don’t share anything with us till the last minute. I was asked to share some copy for something and when I asked was more information, I was told that it’s “confidential”. I just pointed out that I can’t do anything about it if I’m not given more info. I’ve been begging for more responsibilities the past couple of months. I’m okay with mediocrity and just warming the bench for a few weeks. But can’t let my career take a fall with that. I’ve jumped between jobs too many times, I last a year at best everywhere and I want to stay here for a while and build up. But the more I watch them, making plans with the founders, doing their thing and hiring new people, all the while I’m here asking to be seen, it feels like this is just how it’s going to be. I get paid well, I spend only about 2 to 3 hours working everyday. Might sound like the ideal job for some but I definitely feel like if a layoff comes, I’ll bite the dust because I was not given the opportunity to be part of this group and did nothing important.

I come from a non-tech background and have ~4.5 years of work-ex across banking, consulting and business development (2.5 years, 7 months, and 1.5 years respectively). Last month, I switched to a CoS role in a startup but not really loving it so far. How long do I have to stay here so it doesn’t reflect poorly on my CV?

Had a call with my cousin this weekend. Life has been very hectic lately so, I have been laying low for a while now. Anyway, my cousin reached out and he brought up something very interesting. He mentioned how the quality of new engineering grads at FAANG has been trending downwards over the last three or so years. Technical competency aside, there is a weird behavioural shift wherein freshers have adopted job hopping every 2-3 years. He told me that there are zero engineers who stayed longer than 3 years at his org. I mean optimizing for pay is fine. The thing to really balance for is impact in the long run because at one point you would find it hard to scale beyond a Lead/EM role at an org. But the real thing is that the "FAANG" hype has started to die down amongst the 99th percentile of talent. I wonder how long will it take to have a trickle down effect to 80th percentile and so on. Just to validate, I asked a friend for his opinion and he opined that "Bhai, tum FAANG mei naaukar ho ya kisi startup mei, ho toh naukar hi." Translation: "You can work at FAANG, or at a startup but you are still a servant(employee)" Is the FAANG hype really dead?

The general advice that I have heard is to just keep learning and enter the workforce when it is normal again. But I thought for some people, this is the push that they needed to build their own startup or business. Sitting without any job that screw anybody's mind so this seems to be an option too. Funding is dried up but people with a good enough runaway can start a business together in a bootstrapped manner. Even if you return to the workforce right now, there isn't a guarantee you'll be getting your previous CTC, the previous WLB. Companies are trying to cost cut by overloading on a per employee basis and raising competitive nature between teammates themselves. If you getting this much toll, 70 hours per week in worst cases, might as well put that effort on your own venture. Building a startup is risky. But when your current job is itself risky, doesn't seem wrong to build one. But popping up of such small scale business doesn't happen much. Why?

I wish to know the pros/cons of frequently switching jobs. I am in a dilemma, there are posts here and there that say don't switch frequently and then there are posts that nobody cares about frequent job switches, as you are a dev. Let's discuss ladies & gents✍️

I’m not a big fan of 6 rounds of Dynamic programming, but, should easy interviews be viewed as red flags? I recently landed an offer from a startup ( <50 employees ). They had only 1 tech round ( API development assignment ). Rest was talking to folks. Should I view this as a red flag? Do you have any alternative experiences?
