How to ask for more time?

When you have only 1 offer in hand and HR is pushing you to respond immediately (take it or leave it). You also want to try for other options how do you ask for more time?

Sorry for the confusion. Let’s say company A is the first company I tried and got the offer. Still don’t have anything else in hand. Have to attend interviews of other companies, but company A is pushing u to respond immediately. Without giving u time for B , C and others

Tell them to send offer letter in writing. Then get on a meeting with them next day. Till that time ask company B to send you offer letter too. Whichever gives you higher join the company. Also be prompt when company b replies with the offer. Taking too much time like a week Will obviously not get you rejected if the company needs your skills

If you don't have to join immediately accept the offer, accepting the offer as long as you don't sign anything like a contract is ok.

Offer acceptance is not the same as joining the company. You can accept the offer and then still interview at other places.
