How to buy a second hand car? Without getting scammed?

I need to buy a car for my daily commute but I don't know shit about cars and don't want to get scammed/pay more than required. So how do I get good deals or what do we need to check while buying a second hand car

Get it from spinny, they have good checkpoints and also a 7 day return period (not sure if its still going on) saves you the hassle of checking. My friend got i20 2 years ago from them and haven’t faced any issues yet.

Is there any examples of people returning within 7 days? Just check that. It’s a hassel. Talk only with the sales person, they usually give these information out, if they feel you are buying for real and not for time pass.

A little unconventional suggestion, but if you don't know shit about cars, my advice would be to take a mechanic with you when you go to inspect potential cars. It should be pretty cheap to hire someone like that as compared to the total cost of the car.

Local dealers, who have been in a area for many years. Spinny and Cars24 offer too expensive for costumers and less for sellers. Where as local dealer take only 3% commission for park and serve of the cars. Go explore a bit @Elon_Musk thank me later. Good luck bro

But I have seen previous cases with the local dealers painting or welding some car defects over and they don't seem any less shady

Cars checks would be based on you. You can hire local mechanic to do it for you. But for better pricing no one can beat local dealers imo. Some dealers would allow negotiation with owners directly. They take 2 side commissions.

I got a 2016 vtvt sx manual Verna from Spinny in Jan 2020. Third hand. 6.5L. Solid deal. However this was 2020 Jan. I took a personal loan to finance. Still great deal.

Recently, a friend bought Amaze. Solid car. No doubt on quality. However, only makes a decent deal if you pay by cash. If you take a loan to finance, it tends to be not so steal deal.

I got it at 37K. I am just getting servicing done every 5k. Got tires changed at 50k. So far great going. No issues.

Can someone provide good dealers number who don’t scam . Bangalore region

Scam in terms of what? Pricing or cars reliability? I would say, the burned of verification still lies with purchaser, no matter which place you get it. Spinny and cars24 makes it bit easier but don’t guarantee 100%, I have seen Spinny hiding some damage in their luxury line up too. That business run on some grey or shady hide ups. It’s up to buyer to check throughly and buy. Good luck with your hunt bro.

if paying a little premium isn't an issue, checkout teambhp classifieds and other car focused forums minimal chances of getting scammed.

You can check out marketplaces such as CarDekho, CarWale for dealer car options. Plus they also have all the Cars24, spinny stocks listed as well.

Some of the options on these marketplaces are good (and cheap), you can look for certified/inspected cars.
