Keep ur emergency fund in liquid fund.. If u want to invest for long term for more than 5+ yrs Then do in index funds.. Or else for 3-5 yrs do In hybrid funds.. If less than 3yrs.. invest in any debt fund or conservative hybrid fund

how much emergency fund should i have? and don't hate me for this but right now i have short term goals like going travelling and discovering myself within the next year so that's what i wanna save for.

moreover i have the urge to spend money on unnecessary things so want to save it from myself as well

Keep it entirely liquid that 80k you have currently. Preferably do a FD of that amount, interest is high on 18-24 months FD.

And then start investing from next month onwards, whatever you can and are willing to.
