Interview experience at Walmart Tech

I recently interviewed for a L5 PM role at Walmart Tech. The interview process went on for around 2 months having 3 rounds of interview and 1-2 round of discussion with Sr director+. I could sense some gap in the expectation and what the JD described. Still proceeded with the process as we all know that JDs and actual work don't match. I got to know from the Hiring manager in round 4, that they are still figuring out the exact requirements. Subsequently I was told to connect with one more director , by this time I was not sure where this process was heading. I had 1 more round of discussion as per their requirement.

After a gap of 10 days , I got to know through an automated email saying that "you are not longer considered" for the role.

I am sure there have been many such instances before . I want to know how you have dealt with such a situation and is it becoming more common to take interviews and backing off at later stages.

Nothing wrong in getting rejected after 3-4 rounds , but getting rejected due to lack of clarity in staffing requirements is disappointing.

Hey Buddy, Don’t be disheartened with such outcomes. It’s mainly confusion at multiple levels in the org - sometimes people jump first to screen candidates without the budget approvals, other times scope/priority gets changed. Consider this experience as your interview preparation exercise. I am sure, post all those interviews you’d realised “oh! I should have told this…”, move forward with learnings.
