I am into engineering and making decent money (28 LPA fixed + ESOPs) and I am very happy with my job. Given my work, I expect decent raise in coming years. But I think doing CAT preparation and doing MBA preparation will give me better opportunities and will grow me as high value person. Anyone (especially people in engg) with preparation experience or how is the life changed after MBA?
Your work after an MBA will be vastly different from the work you do now. Considering you like what you’re doing I think you should stay.
There’s nothing that an MBA can tech you that you can’t learn by yourself.
The only value I got from my mba was the friends and network I made. But the education in itself was meh
I agree fully with you but my fear is that lack of MBA/masters will be used against me and I won’t get a promotion - every single person on my team has a masters/MBA. I’m the only one without one (I’m an APM).
If growth becomes stagnant then I’ll have to either switch or indeed go for that MBA. What do you think?

If you like engineering stick to it. Develop deeper expertise. Pay will never be an issue.
If you don't want to be an engineer, then move to engineering adjacent roles - PM being one. MBA is not required for PM, though if done from a reputed institution opens up lot of doors. MBA is a networking degree... Access is what is sold in the name of course. You could gain the business knowledge thru just books and real world experience.
MBA makes a lot of sense of you want to change your trajectory or switch careers. It makes less sense if you just want to progress in current one. Don't do an MBA without any experience.
You should be able to justify to yourself, the cost of MBA + opportunity costs of not working vs expected growth ROI for MBA.
You’ll always make more as engg compared to pms (assuming you want to remain in tech post mba).
One thing that’ll definitely do value add to your current tech capabilities is the managerial thinking which should help you in climbing the ladder. Case in point Swiggy cto (did mba after 7 y in engg and continued to be in tech post mba)
