Is the 60 days notice period too much?

Hi Folks I recently got an offer and the notice period over there is 60 days. In my past companies it was 30 days everywhere. Just wanted to know your opinion.

Please don't. Put down your papers and start looking for opportunities, it will help recruiters to Fastrack your application.

Government should create more strict labour laws atleast to save us from these corporates for the tax we generate to the government.

  1. 30 days notice period
  2. 40h work
  3. Severance package for layoffs
  4. No free internships
  5. Minimum wages

For everyone who works in any industry.

Bro we pay tax but corporates gives fund to the government on name of donation. They will do whatever is good for companies not for employees

@1899 - on a personal note, i do not prefer this sort of rules. If you know anyone in manufacturing, ask them how is life at shop floor. Manufacturing has labor unions and laws. factories will make sure you work the entire 40 hrs, . They will screw you till you drop. Every minute/second is tracked.
They usually place friendly people in the unions and control them. Atleast now, when ,market is good, we are able to jump faster and for better pay. We may stay in office for 12 hrs, but hardly work for 3 hrs.

I am working in TCS, notice period 90 days. Because of this I lost 2 good offers, one from the UK and another one from India.
I don't know what should I do..

If i resign without any offer, it will be a very huge risk.. and the offer that I get, they don't wanna wait for 90 days..

I understand your situation bro same for me but now I decided have to resign just to get calls or else you try buying out as @agilesinging said in below comment we can buy out.

60 days is common. Avoid 90 in any case.

PLEASE NOTE: SC directive says You can buy out a notice period by paying ONLY the basic pay for the period you are buying out. And your company does not have a say in it, please educate yourself in these matters. Fuck these companies, choose your own path!

Even if the offer letter does not say anything about buyout can we reduce the np by buyout

As far as I know, yes. Contact a lawyer and send a legal notice if they don’t comply.

60 days is common for L4 and about roles. 90 days for director or VP roles. If you are a fresher and have 90 or 60 days of notice period then it's a red flag.

Is 90 days NP really that big of a red flag? I am fresher going to join a finance firm which have 90 days NP. They are offering good package so I was not thinking of getting another offer. Should I start searching for another offer?

Not that of a big red flag if it has less than 50 employees. Early employees too have high notice period. If you have a choice to get another offer you should try otherwise there is no other option :)

Mostly, 90 days is common in services and consulting companies. 60 days is a privilege and 30 days would be a boon!!

I believe the greater the notice period, the worse is their culture. Companies with shorter notice period won’t worry much about getting new hires as people will be inclined to join them (FAANG companies), the same is not true for companies with longer notice periods (WITCH companies) they have hard time replacing critical resources.
